I have a basket with 4 or 5 dried out fart eggs in it, I think they are cool. Never thought of it but the only thing wrong I've ever seen with a duck egg is how dirty they can make them.......
It's like a contest for them.. Whoever can make them more dirty wins

My muscovy keeps her eggs the cleanest out of my ducks. The Campbells are really messy with where they lay. It's like they aim to plop it out on top of a pile of poop or something.

Nope - not yet, but now I have 2 Silkies!

Hey everyone, the New Blog is Up!
Oh you did get the silkies!!! Yeah!!! I bet your daughter is so happy! I currently have 3 BROODY Silkies out of 6!!! and 2 -1/2 silkie & 1/2 Ameraucana broodies (2nd time broody for both in 3 months???)

Here's mine. Sex link in far left front corner, My heritage BRs lay darker eggs, but at this time of the picture - they weren't laying. The blue eggs are from the EEs. I have some really good blue egg genetics in my EEs. I won the egg contest at our provincial show :D

Anyone have any natural cold remedies? I've got a fever and my throat is sore. Come on. Help me out ;)

Don't make me eat garlic raw or anything though. All I need is a stomach ache to add to the symptoms

We built a big pen today for the turkeys! Will be taking pictures tomorrow to share. I can split the sheep's area in two easily for breeding season and will house a small group of birds in either side for pure matings. By the time the snow is gone, breeding season will be almost over - so they wouldn't be any more contained then they want anyway.

The brown eggs are so hard to tell apart, if I hadn't seen both RSLs in the nest box I wouldn't even know who was laying yet. The wyandottes have been hopping in, and pecking whoever is in there...little snots better enjoy it while it lasts, April can not get here soon enough!

The only hens laying now are my barred rocks, or barred rock x RSL crosses. Oh and the OEGB, one silkie and one or two NN turkens. However, the silkies and the OEGB lay very similar eggs. The only way I can tell them apart is which nesting box it is. Silkies will not get in a top nesting box. My OEGB does. The barred rocks all lay in a garbage bin filled with rabbit pellets (they snack while they lay - crazy things). and my NN turkens lay green eggs.

However, soon I won't be able to tell well at all, as a lot of birds are getting close to lay. My 16 RSL pullets are squatting for the roosters now without screaming bloody murder, and at least half of them are showing growing/reddening combs. Any week now.

I actually like that they aren't starting so young. These girls were born July 19th 2012, so they are 22 weeks old. Wow they are 22 weeks? Geez! Slackers!

One of my Silver Spangled Hamburgs isn't roosting tonight. She's laying in the pine shavings. Rosie the turkey did some fierce stomping today. I could'nt find anything wrong with the Hamburg. Maybe she's bruised. Rosie and Chuck are now in their wn enclosure. They're not too happy.
