An interesting little article on probiotics changing brain activity. Now this article is about people, but it would stand to reason that it would affect animals as well. I'll bet us ff'ers have the smartest hens and pullets around!

Very interesting & I agree!!! I am going to start my new chicks on FF when I get them. I really believe that made a big change in my hens I have now.

And at least I know now not to give the chicks layer feed thanks to all the OT's on here (the lady I purchased them from had them on the layer pellets when I got them so I kept them on it)

I am curious to see if the new chicks have less of the problems my current girls had like the prolapse vent. From what I have read I believe the calcium in the layer feed when they were so young caused the girls to have prolapse vent..

I'm also thinking of just putting them all on flock raiser when I run out of the layer pellets (it will be awhile I bought the 50# bag last fall for 4 chickens & its in the FF

) & calcium out all the time. I think others have tried it?

Les - we are in a very french area. Most people take it as The Farm in french, but we also mean it in the way Loinwizard took it. Most take it as Les Farms in the French manner, but I pronounce it the other way.

well, now I feel stupid and I even took French! here I totally overlooked the French les, and went with lez...congrats on the 9 years! today MN passed the freedom to marry act.

love all the chick pics from everyone, keep em coming.

I know I have been whining about the cold and the snow on saturday and true story, tomorrow it is supposed to hit 90. these weather swings are something. all of a sudden I'm thinking I better remember to open all the coop windows and to make sure there is extra water out before I leave for work.

10 days til chicks!

I so want an ecoglow, but I put all my pennies into these chicks - most expensive chicks I've ever bought. feel like an old lady when I say "....eh, I remember when chicks were 50 cents!".

We have been getting the same kind of weather. Well not snow, but nights have gone in the 30's and days in the 80s. Haven't hit 90 yet. I'd rather it not. 90 is pushing it for me!
