Very interesting & I agree!!! I am going to start my new chicks on FF when I get them. I really believe that made a big change in my hens I have now.An interesting little article on probiotics changing brain activity. Now this article is about people, but it would stand to reason that it would affect animals as well. I'll bet us ff'ers have the smartest hens and pullets around!

And at least I know now not to give the chicks layer feed thanks to all the OT's on here (the lady I purchased them from had them on the layer pellets when I got them so I kept them on it)
I am curious to see if the new chicks have less of the problems my current girls had like the prolapse vent. From what I have read I believe the calcium in the layer feed when they were so young caused the girls to have prolapse vent..
I'm also thinking of just putting them all on flock raiser when I run out of the layer pellets (it will be awhile I bought the 50# bag last fall for 4 chickens & its in the FF
