Edited: oops guess I'm late in getting the answer lol. Oh well I had fun trying to find the answer.

Lala- I actually need to weed the veggie garden and since its in front of the coop I have a perfect spot to watch them. Plus I have 2 chairs for chicken tv...........I got most of my chores done today after work I knew I would be to infatuated with the new babies lol

Exactly they are all hornworm moths(There's a few out there) Nice big moths. The hornworms make great feeders lol(Only the domesticated type that isnt feeding on tomatoes as the tomato plant is toxic IF I remember correctly). I know people have breed a domesticated type of hornworm and its the same kind of chrysalis

I actually have thrown the tomato hornworms to my layers and they gobbled them up with no ill effects.

Well I gave my other Marans a chance today and she went straight for that same baby. She didn't get it though. While we were trying to catch her, she went after another baby. SO, back to jail for her. Again, 8 other chickens with Mama and babies and no issues at all.

Right this moment nutjob better consider laying *real* soon as she's no use at all. No eggs in 2 1/2 weeks. Major Jerkface to the baby chicks. Weird how she went from second Mama to psycho chicken overnight. Hope she enjoys prison time.

I think I have 50-50 boys and girls with the babies. Both black chicks and one blue have thicker legs and are already getting tail feathers. The other blues and the splash have no tail feathers yet. I did that classic "leg test" on a couple and the splash put both legs out (for rooster). SO.... I have a 50-50 guess going too LOL.

Happy Memorial Day everyone and thank you veterans for your sacrifices!

Good evening all. Lost my quoted reply when i went to post it so here is the condensed version.
YAY on new barns, puppies, chicks, horses, duck ponds and etc..
BOO to the reaction of the "thing",rotten eggs, mean 2nd mamas and internal egg layers.
I have a 2yr old hen that is headed down the same road as the last one that died a month ago. Think its an internal egg layer thing also. She is the head hen she looked and acted fine two days ago. Tried all things I could think of to treat her but I know it is a loosing battle.
Well the little ones are as intergrated with the big ones as they are going to get. Took the chicken wire down that separated the coop. They share the run and free range together but that is it. Hoping for the best. They aren't so little any more.
