Has anyone used cianne or garlic to feed for wormmers?? I used it for dogs and horses helps repells flys as well. Will it work on chickens?

I use garlic to just boost their immune system. I use cayenne pepper & pumpkin seeds for natural deworming. I don't have a set schedule for it just when I remember.

Hello all! Literally just an hour and a half till I get to go pick up my chicks! I'm getting everything set up, I'm a crunchy herbalist but I'm still learning being as natural as possible with chickens. I'm going with a local organic soy and corn free starter, but I'm confused with what I should be adding to their water...ACV? Vitamin/electrolyte powder? Both? So confused!!

Chicks will do fine on plain old water...relax, you've got time to figure it all out. :~)

OK thanks haha! Just wanted to make sure, heard a bunch of horror stories you know. Makes sense now why they weren't really eating it like they do the other stuff. I know They eat some funky stuff out free ranging, one of my girls loves finding snakes to eat, lil dinosaurs! Thanks!

If it's medicated for cocci it's like giving them corid which is a thiamin blocker rather than an antibiotic. Not sure how the eggs are affected because usually this is only fed to chicks that don't lay eggs. There are some worming medications that are used that you can't eat the eggs until a period of time. Corid usually isn't on the list because of it's use in non-egg-laying ages.

You should be able to google Corid and find out what the recommendations are.

I would feed them just plain, fresh water. If putting anything in it, the only thing I'd recommend is some probiotic powder from Avi-Culture. It's the only poultry probiotic on the market that is not grown on GMO substrate. Give them some sod from your yard to dig through in the brooder and change it out daily. It will give them exposure to the things in your area and begin to help build the immune systems.
