The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I know cedar is a no no!!!! but I don't know about using it on other animals or people.
Cedar is not a no no. Cedar chips are a no no. Cedar walls are very reliable in defending against insects. Cedar chips that can be ingested or fall and get soaked in the drinking water can be a toxin to the chickens. Please check your information before making grand statements that can be misleading and cause people to disrespect the site and not have the confidence in some of the worthy advice that might come along here. If you want to try to have the kind of following that Bee inspired then you need to know your caca. And, mark my words here, the fact that Bee knew what she was talking about whenever she talked about a topic was obvious. The ring of truth and the voice of experience. BDM is trying to carry it on but the babbling brooks will crash and stall the whole thing if you all arent monitoring it.

Thank you Delisha for the link. I want my chickens to have a good long life and I am thankful for all the wisdom being shared here.

So good of you to stop in
Good thing you are here to help monitor
I do not expect any person to ever have the following Bee had, do you? She was special
Places are successful because of the many..not the one.
Thanks for the welcome Delish.
And I'm sorry to say I disagree with you on one point. Sometimes one person is so spectacular in one way or another that they change the world. That energy draws the people to the places.
If a single person cannot impact many then there is no reason to ever try. Right away this is a different site. I was so interested in the old ways. I dont want to cause problems but I dont see this site promoting culling old chickens or flat out making a method go National like Bee did with ff.

Bee was interesting, she was honest and she kept me interested even when the topics went all over. She wasnt just another wannabee. I think she brought out the best in us and the sites.
I'll check in now and again to see if she is back or if I'm bored, but so far this thread is not holding me and I really wish it would. Someone was right when they said this is not going to be the same. It cannot be. It has already gone granola and that last bastion of realism that was so refreshing and weirdly new isnt gonna be replaced by this. It is a shame that this site didnt happen before all the drama, that way the people who had issues could have had another place to go. Aanyway I'm not trying to be a drag. I really wish you guys could stay on the road less traveled....where old chickens get put in a pot, no one heats their chickens in the coup and ACV cures almost everything.

Good luck to you and please try to fight against the dis information these things can promote.

delisha, I read the article on infectious laryngotracheitis.. It broke my heart to read. The very day I started with the ff and putting ACV in the water, my chickens started making a funny little noise. It sounds like the noise that Rosie the hen turkey makes, normally. No one is sick, I keep watching and it has been nearly 2 months. It did start exactly when I started with the vinegar. After reading the article, I need to tighten up my practices. I don't know anyone else with chickens but reading that was sombering. Thank you. Sue

The above post posted twice, reason for my edit. I'm enjoying this thread. I also enjoyed Bee's.
I take away something different from each person's post. I raised my unfeathered children to believe that we are all entitled to an opinion. It doesn't mean that anyone is right or wrong. We have to stop and agree to disagree. Enough said. Sue
