Do you remember Walt from the OT thread said he thought most toe problems were genetic?
I don't know who Walt is but I do know I was having humidity and temp trouble with my incubator during the last three days before hatching. If I had a chick hatched out from a broody hen with crooked toes I would cull.
I also will be keeping close eye on this chick for it's life time if I keep it in a breeding pen.

Quote: Delisha and Mumsy, Good guesses. We agree by behavior that "Kung Pow" is a cockerel. Always has the "stink eye" going, sounds the alarm when we walk into view, puts himself between us and the chicks. We still aren't sure on the Blue one, displays both genders behaviors. And the barnyard mix is in fact a cockerel. He has very light blue barring you can really see if his wing is extended, and I didn't show it but his wattles are coming in red at 4 weeks old. He hatched on Nov. 29. Of course with the silkies we will have to wait to know for sure.

Good morning everyone..Happy New Year..
I still only have two pips..they hatchling is running around like crazy all alone
I wonder why the rest of them are not hatching
