Better? It's a packing blanket..I've gotten three kid out if baby stage...this I'm having troubles with.

Looks like they have room to get out of the heat.... Do you have ACV in their water? You have seen them drink? I haven't had that problem..... Good looking chicks.... I love coming here because of all the chicks....

I would remove the blanket and give those puppies some air..... Only add heat if they remain huddled. You gonna make pansies outta them birds!

In case I have to cull out my aggressive hen that is in isolation(last chance at changing her attitude and put her lower in the order), how long should I not feed her before doing the deed?

I do not feed 24 hours before slaughter..some do not with hold food at all. I just find it cleaner and less stressful with an empty crop.

I feed up to.... Call it the last supper.... That way I know exactly where the crop is to remove.

Have you guys watched the Super Bowl commercials? There are at least 3 about farming. 

The Budweiser one made me tear up. 

I actually went to YouTube and have the Paul Harvey/ Dodge Ram/ So God made a Farmer on my website.

Loved it.

Loved the Clydesdale one with the exception that the way my mind thinks, it was not believable that the horse would escape it's handler and go through the streets of a city with no police, zookeeper, news crew chasing it......

My take: The guy had just left & the horse didn't have to go very far to find him My favorite commercial, Farmer one 2nd

The box looks so nice..you have done a good job..stick there beaks in the water..they need fluids..make sure they are all drinking..

I'm outside of Toledo...16 shipped. One died pretty quickly this am, she was at the bottom of the box. a SLW. I put beaks in water as I removed them from the box..then did it again about 30 minutes later. I have vit/electolytes in water along with a capful of UACV. The FF is w/UACV too (they seem to be taking to that very well).

I can take the packing blanket off..I was worried about it too cold since its about 45-50 in the garage..

If they are drinking, I agree they need airflow. Good luck, and keep us posted.

I worried too before.... Somebody here told me to let chicks be chicks. If they spread out, lay panting, or worse.... they are too hot. If they huddle, climb on each other, crush each other (hundreds can) then they are too cold.

I have had them outside in 30 degree weather at 3 weeks.... brought em back in too

Normally at 3-5 weeks they are strong enough, feathered enough to handle it all.... gets to be a feel, a look, a knack....
