Quote: Thank you Chickendale!! Only piece of chicken artwork I have.. I bought it for outside at a rummage sale to put plants on and when DH seen it he said I could not keep it outside. So it is in my kitchen and I use it to cool pies, cakes, and cookies.
I was gonna maybe acquire some AM's for the blue eggs, but I like the looks and personality of the EE's. I am ok with green eggs from them. I will be getting some Cream Legbars for my Blue eggs later this spring along with some Marans for the dark eggs to complete my rainbow. Then gonna work on getting some Heritage BR's and keep working with the Silkies.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Just a guest here, but you all have a great thread.
If you want to add some true bred, heirloom, heritage birds, TAKE YOUR TIME. They aren't sold at feed stores and hatcheries don't sell them. Ebay is full of shady dealers pawning off birds as such.
Heirloom, heritage birds is all about knowing where they came from, who bred them, what does the parent stock look like, etc. There is a heritage thread here on BYC for just about every true breed. Hang out. Read. Take your time to become informed and then ask for help. If you are in a hurry? You'll just become frustrated. Like Barred Rocks? Here's some juvenile eye candy for you. NO, you can't get real Barred Rocks at a feed store/hatchery either. LOL
Again, thanks everyone for allowing a visitor. I'll see you around the forums. Peace.

And I was trying to talk DH into building me this. I thought that shelf would have looked great with it.
Holy smokes Fred, those are about the prettiest birds I have seen. You are right, they don't look a thing like my hatchery birds.
I hope you post more here.
Thanks.

I have been on the Plymouth Rock thread for months drooling over yous and Mr, Blosl's birds. I have been doing my research and I know it will be some time before I acquire birds of your guy's quality.

Almost every single one of my chicken decorations came by way of gift. I also find a lot of cool things at Value Village (Thrift Shop) and Salvation Army. We have a few signs from Homesense we purchased ourselves, and we have the most beautiful chicken dishware set.
I think 60% of our Christmas gifts were chicken related.
Let me guess, the blue eggs came from a light colored EE? I am gathering data for a hypothesis I want to test.
