Whew! My head is spinning! I was so behind reading and there was so much information to sort through. aoxa - Where did I miss us getting a new puppy? Very cute! So sorry to read about your loss and Congrats on the wedding. (Is it proper to say all that in one sentence?) As always everyone, thanks for sharing pictures. I always enjoy them whether I comment or not. 40 degrees here tonight. I built another woodstove fire before bedtime. Arthritis doesn't like waking up in a cold damp house. I miss my turkeys but love not having to step over their large poop on the deck. The chickens are contented with not having to run from the large birds. It looks like I'll have a couple new chicks soon. Not sure what they'll be as "mom" is a Silkie mix and "dad" must have been a traveling salesman as I'm not quite sure what's been going on when I'm working. I thought the eggs were duds but 3 had chicks in them. Have a great week end.
Okay, how about a source in New Hampshire (or Vermont - I'm right on the border)?Grow Alabama
Alabama's organically-grown vegetables, herbs and fruit
Jerry will point you in the right direction..

Exciting!! And way cute!I have coop news! My husband started my second chick house today! It will be unlike most chick houses most people imagine. This will be used mainly for Silkies.
I am a model builder and specialize in 1:25 scale. This little tudor building I built two years ago is the inspiration for the new chick house. Lot's of ideas floating in my head for it.

Ah Ha...I knew there had to be a reason for that. Helps me think things through if I ever decide to sell birds in the future.I won't sell chicks because I'm trying to build my stock up into superior flocks. This is my first year with these strains. (HRIR and top tier Silkies) I will keep all chicks for evaluation before letting any go. When I sell eggs, it will be from my top breeding pens. It's the reason I'm hatching everything I can as soon as I can. I need to know which are my top type and SOP birds and how they reproduce before I offer them to the public.
