The neverending coop project. *Update - IT'S DONE!!!!!!*

I read your post and saw you are from Northen CA, but I used to say the same thing on forums just so people wouldn't think I lived in LA, when I lived east of SF. I used to live in Shasta County and went to school in Arcata and was a fishing guide on the Trinity and Klamath. Just curious what part of NorCal you live in after seeing your early snow picture?

After some "issues" the people door is now hung on the coop (and it's painted).

I'd post a picture, but my internet provider doesn't seem to think that fixing my internet is a priority.

I've been outside working on the little things that need to be done today. They don't sound like much, but they seem to take a lot of my time. I was wrapping the ends of the fencing around the posts in the run, and didn't get my hand out of the way of the fence pliers. Nailed myself right in that fatty area of my hand by my thumb. Hurts like h-e-double toothpicks.

Came in to bandage myself, have some lunch, so I can go back out for more self torture.

Wince. That must have been really painful.

I know what you mean about the little things that take an inordinate amount of time. Every time it seems like I'm approaching finished, something else comes up.

This morning I let the girls out in their run (top netting not in place yet, it just arrived about 11. I came back to the house (150 ft. or so) and when I turned around, my Golden Campine, Scout, was FLYING TOWARD ME. She had flown over the 4' fence (I know, I know, she is a bird. birds fly) in order to get up to their favorite area near the house. One more thing to worry about. The temp got down into the mid 20's last night, and I worried about the girls all night. They were fine of course except that their water had a skin of ice over it.

Arrrggghhh. I'm never going to get another good night's sleep.

sharol.........how long have you been working on your coop/run?

Did I mention that I HATE fencing? Argh, gotta go out and get more of it done. But even with a messed up hand, I got ramps built and installed. (all by myself JOE)

My remaining to do list for completion:
Install the bolts on the people door
Nail a piece of 2X4 so I have a place to attach the auto door opener for the pop door
Fence off remaining 10 feet of fence
Install gate and latch

I find myself having the same problem. I have spent the last two months doing small things round the coop. Today i was going to build another coop and i was like it shouldn' t take me to long since i have two sides done, WRONG. I ended up pushing the side of the coop next to the site over more so it would be bigger and kept on making changes to it. In the end i had to take a board and split that coop in half cause the new silkies where not getting along with my 2 weeks olds.

Now i have to fix the nesting boxes cause my two troublemaker 2month old SLW are flinging all the nesting stuff out. What we do for our chickens.
