Congrats on the new baby boy! Dont stress about learning everything in one week....it comes natural.

I know, my baby is about to turn 13 months already! But I can't imagine having a newborn again... too much drama for this old mama!

Wow, my shortest labor was about 4 hours with my 3rd baby, and that was after being induced!

Ya, I think we set some sort of record...I try to remember to thank my little boy everyday for our speedy delivery. Makes me wonder if I decide to have another baby If I should plan to have it at home. They say the 2nd come faster....so I wonder if I would even have time to make it to the hospital, lol. seeing as how my water broke at 9pm and we made it to the hospital at 10pm, delivered at 11:15pm. The only thing was I did retain my placenta and had to go to surgery to fetch it, oh felt much better after surgery with some drugs on board!

Pumped for storage for the 1st time today, I need a break and I hope I can get DH to take some feedings since I am going nuts some days. Now to figure out how to warm a bottle efficiantly do I bother getting a bottle warmer?

anyone use the playtex drop ins? Are they worth it or should I just get bags to put in the bottles? Can I thaw and feed from the milk storage bags or do I need to pour it into something else? Can I pump right into the bags as well? oh all the things I need to figure out!​

I loved my bottle warmer. MUCH faster than warming the milk in a cup of hot water, but not necessary if you don't mind it taking a little time.

Playtex Drop-Ins are the only way to go! I had regular bottles at first and was SOOOO sick of washing them. I love, love, love the drop-ins! I think they might have bags you can pump the milk into, then drop right into the bottles, but I never did that, so I'm really not sure. If you just use the storage bags you can thaw/warm the milk in those and then pour it into the drop-ins.

Each birth is different, and totally unpredictable. My labor/deliveries have ranged in duration from around 4 hours to 42 hours!

Hello all! My little boyo, Tobias (Toby), was born last Friday. I finally have five spare minutes to post. Yeash, it's been hectic. Even with my Dad and Step-Mom in town to help it's been crazy. I've been covering the basics but it felt like there were not enough hours in the day.

On which note; anyone have any advice to increase milk production besides heat/massage/frequent pumping? Oh, and I'm now trying mother's herbal tea too. I'm just not getting anything close to what he needs and I would love to stop supplementing.

Rcenter and Robin- Good Lord I wish mine had gone that quickly! I was in labor for 14 hours. Thankfully only twenty-two minutes of pushing, but still! I hope my next labor mirrors your guys's time!

honestly...I would like my next delivery to include an epidural so maybe a little longer than 2 hours would be nice. like 3 or 4, I keep seeing on the baby shows all these women who look darn content with their epidurals and it makes me a little jealous that they are not in excruciating pain. Especially having the Dr trying to manually remove my placenta after I gave birth, I had to cut her off cause I think she would have been digging all night and she may not have realized that I did not have any drugs. If that happens again I will demand surgery immediately.

another rough night last night, really wearing me down. I must be doing things all wrong, happytxchick said her baby slept through the night twice and Caroline is younger than shane. Just did some reading about nighttime routines and will try to make some changes. At this point I think about the impossibility of returning to work. Am I really gonna have this sorted out in 3 more weeks?

Epidurals are Heavenly, but in my case they made me wait three hours to get one. I was getting the shots but those start to wear off faster and faster and they can't give them too you any sooner than one hour intervals. Honestly, if I knew that I'd only be in labor a few hours max I would probably have skipped the epidural (and the risks that it presented; I was on some meds that complicated things). But not knowing how long it's going to go on... Not going there without some serious pain control. I went from shaking with pain and trying not to break DH's hand every three minutes to smiling and telling jokes in under five minutes. I only had two grumps with my epidural. One, I went COMPLETELY numb on one side, to the point where I couldn't even move my leg. And when they were placing the epidural the guy kept tapping a nerve that went down into my leg. Felt like lightning strikes down past my knee. He adjusted things right but he said nerve locations are a bit of a blind thing when giving an epidural. They just have to work with what they know and the patient's symptoms/how they feel.

Chick_In_The_Burbs - Are you sure you're not producing enough milk? A lot of people don't think they are, but they really do. Letting Toby nurse very often will help, even m ore so than pumping b/c the stimulation is better. Other than that I'm not sure what to tell you. Sorry.

Some babies just sleep better than others. I would suggest pumping and having someone do a bottle shift during the night if you can. Or pump and mix it with some formula for the evening feeding to see if that helps Shane sleep a little longer. Is he just wanting to eat frequently or is he fussy during the night?

KellyHM- I'm sure I'm not producing enough. I had Issues getting Toby to latch properly and since we were planning on using bottles eventually anyway so DH could get in on the action I am straight pumping and bottle feeding the results. He is currently getting about 40/60 of my milk vs formula.

I burb him and usually get a few real nice burps but he hates being up on my shoulder or on his belly. I know Shane is eating enough cause I can tell he is getting bigger and heavier so atleast I know he is thriving. His diapers are consistant too. The feces look a little more watery than they were, but idk if that is a concern...same color, just not as seedy.

Would like DH to start the bottle, but looks like another thing I will have to do myself cause waiting for him will be too long. Frustrating that even when DH is here to help, I am not really getting any help. If I still feel completely frustrated this upcoming week I am gonna go and cry on my mom's shoulder cause I don't think my DH is gonna be very comforting since he feels like he is doing all the sacrificing by working a boatload of Overtime.
