really....relax about the schedule, is it so bad not having one? I say no. Shane is working out his own schedule now that he is 6 months old. I know everyone raves about schedules and us new moms get kinda delirious without sleep. Being delirious you will listen to all sorts of advice and try anything to get a nights rest. But trust me...it is easier to roll with it and just be thankful for the good nights. I always hated it when people said this to me but it does get easier
..whether or not you have driven yourself crazy trying to get a schedule or given up and flown by the seat of your pants. Once your little one sees the pattern that is your life (however patternless it may seem) she will adjust to it and things will roll smoother for both of you.
I just can't stand a miserable baby, maybe I am a weak parent for that, but that was my main problem with a schedule. Too many miserable baby moments trying to enstate a schedule.
Good luck and I hope you find a groove that works for both of you.
a hint for night time if you are formula feeding is to premeasure the water and the formula separately so that at a moments notice you can have a bottle ready, just pour the formula into the water, shake and feed. Shane never minded that it was room temperature. I am sure you have heard all these suggestions, but keep the room dark...get good a changing in the dark. Turning on the light always woke Shane up. Put an outfit on that is easy to manipulate...I love the zipper sleepers. Be quiet and dont talk or be social, a few kisses are fine
Stick to business and try to keep consistant...feed 1st diaper 2nd or vice versa but the same each time. All these things I have found to be successful for me, but everyone is different ya know!
edit - I wanted to add that be sure not to get up too soon, give her a chance to fall back asleep. It's ok to wait until they are crying...not like super crying but clearly not settling back down cry. Shane is fussing right now in his crib, but (from experience) I am sure he will be back asleep in a minute.
We are expecting our upper incisors here any day, he is more miserable now that before his lower incisors came in. I guess they are generally large teeth so maybe it's more painful
Poor kid, I really would like to not have to deal with teething for a long while after these come in, I hope they wait a year or so!
