When does your weather start cooling down? I know you're getting tired of the heat.

We're actually in the low 30's* today...not too bad since the wind isn't blowing.

A pretty quiet day around here, I think I've spent most of it digging out from under laundry. Pretty exciting stuff, lol!

Yeah, I am getting a little tired of it but I do every year .. not so bad if the nights are not too hot and we get the occasional relief with rain etc but I can see me being cranky at the end of next 7 days of 89.5 … 91.5 … 93 … 91.5 … 91.5 … 89.5 … 91.5 and no rain.

Probably another 6-8 weeks before we may be start to cool down.

LOL .. yep, gotta love laundry!

Hi Blooie!

Did I see where you are expecting a snow storm in the next day or so?

We don't have anything in the forecast, guess you'll get to keep it all to yourself, lol.

I'm a bit sad today - I found my darling Pixie dead this morning. She was my favourite and only a couple of years old. Poor baby! She just looked like she'd fallen off her perch during the night. Despite not being handled until we bought her as a pullet she was the friendliest girl. And the guy that breeds Old English Game Bantams is quite a drive away. It's at least a 3 1/2 hour round trip. Plus we already have way too many chickens - but OEGB's are so tiny, surely they don't count!

At least I have baby Bourkes hatching soon to look forward to (hopefully around the 5th Feb), and I have finches with a nest full of 6 eggs (pretty sure they are all fertile too)! One pair of finches already has 4 babies so I'm going to be overrun soon! We've been waiting for baby Bourkes for ages now. We were sold one as a male (we already had a girl) but after 'he' took over the nest box and laid eggs we realised they'd got it rather wrong. Baby Bourkes are so cute as they hatch out fuzzy (unlike the finches who are bald for ages).

Oh, that so sad. Why is it always our favorites that go too soon? :hugs sorry for your loss. She's was a beautiful girl.

J, that's a shame about Pixie, sorry for your loss. She was so pretty. I think you're right, when it comes to chicken math, it takes at least 2 bantams to equal 1 full size chicken. I hope you can get another.

And good luck with the hatching for the Bourkes and finches. When both of those do hatch, I'd love to see photos.
