The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thank you Phil.
I think it is more of the feeling of the the empty nest, not really needed as as mom.. I will always be needed as a mom, but he is pretty well self sufficient now.
Which is what the goal was all along.
I just did not have an exit plan.
I feel like a balloon after the party.

I walk around like

. It has been nice having him home.
He mentioned yesterday that he is getting homesick already, and I understood, we are starting to miss him already and he is here right now.

We are strange, aren't we?
I could use a good baby sitter.

lol

Not strange, just a parent.

That never stops. We just returned from cold, sunny Fla. Cheered our kids on at the Disney marathon. We were both a wreck until our kids (51 and 49) crossed the finish line. You will survive. Activity is a great empty nest survival program. Volunteer work, increased home projects, going back to school can all be part of the 'growing' program.

Were there a lot of runners in the Disney marathon?

Eggsy, look at this time as a chance to pat yourself on the back for raising a self-sufficient human and a chance for you to have some "me" time. You never stop being a parent but now you can re-discover yourself again. That empty nest stuff is no fun but in a while, it will become the new normal.

Approximately 25,000 in the marathon alone. They also held a 5 K, a 10K, a half marathon, and a full marathon over the course of 4 days. Some people ran all four races. It boggles the mind to think of all the effort put into putting on this race and all the effort in training on the part of the participants.

Wow, that's big! And for some to run in all four?! Amazing. You run too, don't you sour?

Did you have time to see some of the sights while you were there? (Other than running people, lol.)

I am one of the greeters for the New Members Introduction thread - we get many people that have forgotten their user name/ password etc. They just open a new account . Anyone is 'Welcomed Back.' We always have a place saved for them on the roost.

Please tell your friend to sign up again - we will give her a warm welcome.

ps years ago BYC shop had a packet of BYC business cards, and you could order them. I did.
