Nice trips down memory lane guys! Now kids think they have it hard if they don't have their own cell phone by the time they're 8.

I didn't have my cell phone till I was 38.

Never had air conditioning as a kid, we just got used to it and spent evenings outside.

Now winters were different, we had a wood burning furnace that would go out most nights, nothing like waking up at 5 in the morning, seeing your breath as you jumped out of the covers turned on the light, grabbed your clothes and dived back into bed to dress, there would be frost on my walls and my thermometer would be in the 30's. Then out to the barn to feed and milk the cows before going to school.

Don't miss a minute.

From the shower to the fan while still damp - yep, knew that trick. Listening to the rain on the tin roof just outside my bedroom window was comforting. No daily baths, and we survived and were healthy.

Think I'll go back to that.

Didn't have mine until I was 65 - still have that same old 'flip phone'.

The Princess insisted "Just in case you get a heart attack while out in the field."

You get too far out in those fields sour, you won't have a signal to use the phone with. But it probably makes her feel better and that's a good thing.
