The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I’m sure its not in the dictionary:gigmy friend taught me it.

Don't you know you should be careful about repeating things your friend's teach you? I remember the smacking I got for repeating a word a friend taught me...what she didn't let me know was that it was a bad word. :smack

Looks like Michael is still planning to hit the Florida panhandle on Wed, as a 110+ MPH hurricane. Batten down the hatches!

@Farmer Connie posted yesterday about making preparations for Wednesday. Keeping my fingers crossed it isn't bad. :fl

Low 50s for a high but rising overnight to 77 tomorrow afternoon. Pretty much no chance of rain today but 100% cloud cover. It did sprinkle/mist much of the day. 60's the next 2 days with a pretty good chance of rain on Thursday. Guess that means I'll be changing the hydraulic fluid and filters in the tractor tomorrow or Wednesday when there is a 20% chance of rain. Not quite due yet but I'd rather do it while I can feel my fingers ;).

Good luck with that! I hear hand stripping takes a lot of time, even on little terriers (part of why I decided against a Border Terrier or Cairn) so I can't even imagine how long such a HUGE dog will take!!
Most pet owners just use clippers. Usually only breeders do hand stripping.

Thank you, Blooie for those words of encouragement! :D

I do try! ;)

Ken arrived safely in Cheyenne (didn’t we just get back from there Saturday?) and only ran into snow from Chugwater down. He said it wasn’t bad at all, though. Tonight he goes to Burns and tomorrow night to Pine Bluffs, (he’s home-porting in Cheyenne) then Casper on Wednesday, home super late Wednesday night. He and his buddy Jim have a Scottish Rite meeting (I think that’s what it’s for) in Washington State, so they leave Thursday and will be home on Sunday, in time for us to head back to Casper for two more days before we go to Boise for 4 days for the Rocky Mountain Conference. Our 26 years in the Navy was good practice for all of this! :lau

Cap, I’m no ordinary dog owner! :gigI gotta do everything the hard way. Score today is Fiona’s coat, 10, Blooie, 0. I gave up. She looks a lot better, but she’s far from done.

You guys in the path of this nasty storm stay safe!

And after. Still got a lot to do, but she looks a lot less shaggy than she did! You can see that I haven’t done her rear quarters, front legs, or her neck yet. Need help holding her for those. On the neck the collar gets in my way and I need that to help hold her. On her rear quarters she keeps sitting down. And when I tried to do her front legs her big head kept getting in my way while she tried to lick my hand. :he

Ohh okay that makes sense. I was reading though that clipping/shaving was bad for the coat and causes it to grow back softer and a different color instead of the proper terrier texture and color? So if it was me, I wouldn't want to risk that and would strip. But I know that for most owners it doesn't matter and they don't care, which is not a bad thing, and I don't really either, but I guess I'm just a bit OCD about having a proper coat lol I don't think I would do it as often as they suggest though

The current track shows it smacking in around Fort Walton Beach! Then heading pretty much through the junction of Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Sure hope your place is OK when he's done moving through.
like i said the first time oh cr--, i was from ft. walton, you know when i was growing up we never had a hurricane , tornado's occasionally yes but never a hurricane, i have no family left that lives in ft.walton but do have a nephew that lives on the bay in freeport, nieces and nephew that lives in crestview(inland) and friends that live where it will hit, worried more about them than our place , that can be replaced, they can't, but they will probably run from it :fl:fl:fl:fl
