The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The lunch for the ladies will be chicken salad on croissants along with 2 salads to choose from. I did a test of a new pumpkin recipe last night...eh, not pretty. So dessert will be chocolate chip cookies.

All 5 cats got the "treatment" yesterday. Most seem fine but Bam Bam has a testicle poking out of his incision. Looks like my little buddy will need a 2nd visit to the vet today. I'm sure he'll be thrilled, lol.

So Chris...do you have some new chicks from the test run of your new bator?

Good morning all! Thanks for all the wedding compliments. It was so beautiful.

Debby, whatsoever will you do with all that time, once the course closes?

Chris - congrats on the hatch! I'm dying to do some more, but hoping to hold off until spring. (wish someone would pay me to do a hatch for them... lol)

WV, I'll pay you to do a hatch for me BUT you have to personally deliver them! Write it off as a business expense!

I would do that in a heartbeat, IF I could talk hubby into it!

Lunch sounds nice, but sorry about the pumpkin experiment

Just two. I only put in 4 eggs - two of which turned out not to be fertile. Pretty sure i little fella, and i know that I have a female. They are useless to me, so I'll keep them till they are 4 weeks old and no longer need heat, then give them to the lady that cleans the house.

Good morning all!

Hi, WV. Don't worry, I'm keeping eggs for setting at the end of the week - I'll send you daily photos

we just got done winterizing the camper...first year owning so we weren't sure what we were doing ...thank goodness for you tube. We're supposed to get rain today so no corn harvesting for a few days. My hubby had to hook up my old washing machine as my 3 year old machine is down for repairs again...they were out for the same thing in July. It went down Sunday and repair guy won't be here until October 19th...sure glad we bought the extended warranty which is something we never do. The whole bottom plate came out.

Hi, DMC. Thats some seriously bad luck on the washing machine front! Guess you can always wear some of your clothes the regular way for a day, then inside out the next - gonna halve the washing load when you eventually get up a running

Not so bad....I did it last year. Traveled from Northwestern Wyoming to Eastern South Dakota two days before Thanksgiving with 6 chickens in the back. We were taking them back so my brother could add them to his small flock. Barely heard a peep out of them, but a cecal poop or two on a 12 hour drive can get a bit disconcerting! We looked at it this way - if the weather went to Hades in a handbasket, we'd at least have fresh eggs and meat on hand. Whut? Worked on ships for the pilgrims!

They were such good girls. We stopped at the halfway point and went into McDonald's for a quick bite to eat before we hit the road for the last half of the trip. I decided maybe they'd appreciate some fresh greens - or as fresh as the greens at McDonald's ever get - to supplement the food we'd put in their box. Got them a Southwestern chicken salad.

So funny!! Didn't want to get them anything that came with stuff on it that was bad for them, so I asked what was on that. The young lady behind the counter said, "Greens, corn, beans, chicken - either grilled or crispy - ....." I totally lost it. I was laughing so hard I had to grab the counter. Finally spit out that I had 6 live chickens in my van that I was getting the salad for. l. She looked a little flumoxed and stuttered that she could make one without the chicken. Told her to leave it on but take off the lime/cilantro dressing. Didn't want to remind them they were on a Margarita-free trip By the time I had that salad in my hand I'd made their day - and any customers close enough to hear this conversation as well. By the way,if you ever do travel with chickens, they DO love the Southwestern chicken salad.

I absolutely hate the laundromat!! I had to use that last time and wanted to cry...it's not the cleanest and grossed me out. Thank goodness we saved the old washer and it will do until my other is fixed...it has issues but will work for 2 weeks... fingers crossed!
