The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Just a few!!! I think I need to change my avatar to this!

We have heavy rain here at the moment. We've just had heavy showers so far but this lot looks set in. We are getting strong winds tomorrow. We are pretty sheltered where we are so unless the little stream really floods in a big way we should be alright.

FridayYet - I looked up what Whisps were. I am so envious! I LOVE cheese and those things look divine!

That would be a perfect avatar for you J! I'm not going to ask for the latest count

Please be safe and keep us posted on how you're doing.

I've been so tired today but the fact that my tiny society finches cheeping is just audible today has kept me going. I thought I was hearing things the first time. It's such a tiny peep! And they've been trying to snuggle up to my hand. They must think I'm a funny mother with no feathers. Like my Javas must wonder when they try to preen me.

It'll be bedtime soon and they should be fine overnight from here on out. So I can get a decent night's sleep. Just 3 more feeds to go until I can rest my weary head.

J, you do a remarkable job with your teeny-tiny birds. Nice to know they are doing well

Good morning everyone!

My little ones are doing well. I swear every time I look at them, they're taller and their little tail feathers are sticking out more. One of the Welsummers is practicing her dust bathing, which always makes the others gather around to watch. They've figured out the plastic tunnel I put in their brooder is fun to jump on and this morning one of them was sleeping inside of it.

The gas company came out yesterday to put in a line to the big smokers we bought for the golf course restaurant and found problems. Apparently there are gas leaks all over the place and now we aren't sure we'll have the restaurant open Saturday when the season starts. Better to find out now then once the whole place blows up but a real concern right now. And there's a leak in the men's room plumbing so the bathrooms are inoperable as of now.

One step at a time, we'll get there.

So glad you found the gas leaks!!! Hope they can be traced and fixed quickly. Like you said Debby, one step at a time.

J, can't believe how much work those baby birds are. You are doing a great job with them. Not sure I'd have the patience these days.

Good morning to everyone else, too!

Well, she's still hard at it.....this was the kitchen.

This is the kitchen now...she still has to clean and paint around the windows and decide what to do with the cabinets that have no doors, but what a difference!

A gas leak, Debby? Wow! Just what you needed! But finding and correcting that is critical and I'm so glad they found it before you opened!

If she wants to go for a country look she could do chicken wire framed doors and put her nicer dishes in them. Saw that somewhere. Kind of cute.

Have another quail update. I had to put the unwell chick in the incubator and leave him. Checked on him at lunch and he has a little buddy running around in there with another half hatched egg rocking and rolling! I'm shocked since I'm at 21 days. Quail are fickle little buggers, aren't they?

Yay baby quail! You'll be amazed at the huge difference between the older ones and the new hatchlings. Try holding unhatched eggs up to your ear to see if you can hear them tapping. Hopefully there are a few more late babies. I love your cabinet door idea too.

Tam's kitchen looks beautiful, Blooie. I love a white kitchen.

Debby, so sorry about the setbacks. Breathe, just breathe! Hope they can get fixed up quick. Glad your babies are growing like weeds. Baby chicks are so adorable!

Debby, if I didn't have a regular full time job that requires me to be here, I'd be down there working for you. I am dying for a change of scenery!

Time to retrain into something new. I've lost interest in my current situation of nearly 9 years.
