Normally they approach me from the front, this one came from behind... Hard not to jump when you get that flutter in your ear without expecting it.

I've never had any get that close before, that's pretty cool! Maybe they've adopted you as one of their own

The one pair will get within 5"... I've stuck my finger out as a potential perch but no takers yet. The one yesterday was one that got beat up for trying to use the feeder.

We have a pair of wild ducks visiting us a couple of times a day to demand food. It must be the same pair that usually visit us at this time of year as the female will eat out of my hand, no hesitation.

We watched a documentary series recently about animal flight and the humming birds are just amazing little things.

Had one tried to perch on my shoulder yesterday.. Kind of freaked me out a bit..



I've got two feeders and one couple have decided the one by the deck door is all theirs... The girl will perch on the bracket I hang it from and run anyone off that comes near the feeder or the flowers by the deck. These are the same two birds that will hover about 5" from my face and chatter at me. Not sure what they're saying but suspect they like the feeder. If it goes empty, they have a totally different tone to their chatter...

I was sitting on the deck one day reading and heard a funny noise and went to set my book down and it was right next to my head. Scared the you know what out of me. Them wings make a lot of noise.

Hi Debby! Yes, are you? Had issues with the truck on the way home. We lost all our guages, they were going all wonky on us so we didn’t know how fast we were going...even lost the air conditioner. It goes in today.

Me too!! Thinking it’s JUST something electrical. It’s still under warranty so hopefully it’s covered. Yellowstone looked beautiful. SD was beautiful but I’ll take my big trees and farmland any day.

"Just" electrical. Right. Glad it is still under warranty, electrical can be quite difficult to track down.

Me too. Curious what made you pick that breed as opposed to other mpre common breeds?

Unlike your more common LGDs, they only bark when there's a real threat. They're not quite as aloof and are not wanderers. Also, they're quite rare in Canada, so he's quite unique.
