The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I think those quite edible…I bet they’re delicious with a cup of coffee.

Thanks IM! Pretty or ugly, they'll be eaten. But just in case, I just got back from the grocery store with a back-up dessert: Tuxedo Cream Cake. Never had it before but DH is a chocoholic so he'll enjoy it.

Good morning, everyone! Playing catch-up here, as usual.

@bruceha2000 , Kendra certainly is a big girl now! She’ll be 11 in September. She still wears the shirt….now it actually fits as a shirt. It’s a little faded and worn around the hem, but it’s hers and she loves it!

@Madhouse Pullet , Thanks! I like that quilt, but certainly not enough to ever do another one like it! <shudder>

Saving coins pays off. We had a big plastic water jug that we started tossing loose change in. The other day when we dropped Tam off after we went to Cody, we ran in and grabbed the few things we still had left at her house - my guitars and mandolin, jewelry box, and jug of coins. Those were things we certainly didn’t want in the storage units. Ken stopped at the bank and got a bunch of coin wrappers, and the next day we got to work. We ran out of quarter wrappers so when we went to Walmart yesterday we picked up more and got the last ones wrapped. The result? $764.50. The orphan coins went back into the jug as “seed money”. Wow! Just wow!! Tomorrow we’re taking them to the bank and depositing them in our account. The box is so heavy we have to use Ken’s briefcase cart to move it!

 That's a lot of coins! Makes me want to save more coins. I try to use them as much as possible.
But, you have a pretty new house! I'd take that over a cruise any day :D
X2!
@Madhouse Pullet I love snow, when it has all melted and gone ❤️
:lau
That looks awesome! I caught mine on something outside and tore it so I was going to tie dye it and use it as a grocery bag. I was wondering how it would turn out.
That's a great idea, I've thought of doing that with old shirts, too.
Hi Marie.

Punky Brewster generation?

Sounds like a great article, Mark!
I have to Google that.

Whoever wins! I really don't care a lick about professional sports. Especially the ones where people get massive millions of dollars contracts.

I hope she will be happy there.
I'm sure she will be!
And there are people that understand her dementia and how to deal with it. And there are MULTIPLE people so it isn't all on you.

I can't sleep.
But technically it's morning so good morning everyone
Just because it is morning HERE (and when you posted a couple of hours before I got up) doesn't mean it is time for YOU to be up!!

You all DON’T want to know what came up when I searched for that meme.
Um, I can imagine and I am NOT going to Google it!

Did you hear about the guy who made an igloo?
That is pretty neat!

I mismatch socks on purpose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DD1 babysat for a girl that chose mismatched socks. I saw here at the grocery store a couple of years ago. She was in High School and her socks matched. I asked he if she was ill ;)

Oh H3LL NO! That is WAY too much work. There is a coin counting machine at the larger credit union office. Dump the coins in, get a receipt out, take that to the teller, deposit done!

I had to do the coin thing when I worked at the bank those 4 days. It sucked even with a machine. It was disgusting and dirty. The pennies and dimes got jammed on a regular basis.

None of our banks have them. So this was the only way we were going to be able to get the jug emptied! :lau

I accidentally posted this over on the Baker’s thread instead of here where most of you have known Katie for years! I didn’t know whether to delete it there and redo it here, or if there was a way I could just move it. Compromise, since a couple of folks asked me to leave it there….I coped and pasted it per their suggestion. So if you’re reading it twice, my apologies!

The kids (Evan and Katie) had Speech and Debate meets again this weekend. Katie called a little bit ago with the results of her informative speech during the competition in Thermopolis. During her first round, she got a perfect score - 100 out of 100 points!!! She took first place in her second round, and placed 6th overall. What Autism??? Haven’t heard from Evan yet.

This was in last week’s paper:

Katie is embracing high school and thriving! She plays the clarinet (3rd year) and percussion in band, she’s in chorus, drama, Speech and Debate, and the guitar group. She’s also in the STEM program. I stole this photo off her high school web site:
