Check for digging. Do you have a pen skirt around the outside of your pen?

Yes, around the coop and pen. I closed up the openings to the run, so it got in through the welded wire of the hoop coop. I will be putting up another layer of wire.

Glad you got the culprit but, still hurts so much to have lost the Tolbunts.

I like opossums, but not in my coop. Yeah, I think I would be reinforcing my welded wire. I get the stuff with the 2 x 4 holes, and nothing has been able to get in, other than rats, which I've dealt with. Snakes could get in, but so far, I've not had a problem with them.

I shot a possum tonight in the coop I lost birds in. How it got in through welded wire idk, but I am going to put another layer of wire. I have lost enough birds and other critters for one year!
