Hello all!
Remember my four pullets gave me one egg, two weeks ago? I knew I had to get inside the run and look in the only place they could have hidden them. Sure enough, under/behind the ramp, a little dug out nest with 16 eggs in it!
Pulled out the eggs, covered the nest with an upside down flower pot, and for good measure filled the entire area with good-sized rocks. Like 6” in diameter and larger.
I hard boiled three of the eggs and put them in the nest box (where they had made a fine little nest in the straw). Sure enough, got two new ones today!
I’m keeping the hard boiled eggs there for another day or two so everybody gets the hint. They love the nest box; they’ve been fussing around in there, rearranging the straw, for these two weeks! I think it’s going to work.
Don’t mind all the broccoli back there. Cleaning out the garden - they love those green caterpillars! Later they’ll finish off the broccoli
