The Old Folks Home

Here in MA they have a similar rule and I think they specify no cell phones.

For teenagers/junior operators it is no phone at all even calls, for adults it’s just no texting. I’m not sure if the call is only Bluetooth/hands free or if you can have the phone up to your ear.

I know in NY state you are not allowed to use your phone at all. We always have to be careful driving through. The rule is for everybody not just kids.

BUT the crazy drivers still aim for me - out here at least, they hate to see pedestrians using their road. I walk facing traffic and as far away from the actual road as I can get. Usually means walking on broken glass, and over used birth control conveniences :sick.
Almost no sidewalks out here.

There are no restrictions here and much more to being a HAM than responding to emergencies. Road reports, accident reports, weather reports, if I am on the road and find it closed to through traffic, I'll report that and yep, I use it to let DH know that I'm on the way home and if I'm not rolling in in 15 minutes, start looking for me.

Frankly I don't know how anybody holds a rag chew (HAM term meaning idle conversation) while driving with a microphone in your hand. Although some do use head sets with mics for hands free use I find our roads to be too narrow and too curvy not to use two hands on the steering wheel and not concentrate on what I am doing.

Although I hate to admit that I see a lot of people on cell phones. Back in IL where there is a no phone while driving law, we were side swiped more than once by soccer moms with their ears to the cell phone or texting.

If I had been a law enforcement officer I'd have no problem meeting my ticket 'quota'.

I live in a small village (unless it has grown alot since I last checked). In the beginning our police chief and officers wrote the most traffic tickets in the state. But never ticketed any with our village sticker (no matter what they did).

He also did free lance work like murdered someone's wife(on contract) Husband didn't want to get a divorce and have to share with her. Then police chief stuffed her into the trunk of her own car and drove it into the canal.

Wasn't the brainiest person- the canal had so many dumped cars in it, they were sticking up out of the water. Most were for insurance fraud. He went to jail but, I'm not sure if he died there or after he got out.
