I guess there is a big problem here with alcohol abuse within the Amish community. Yep, they drink and drive...their buggies. Although I've yet to see a county mounty pull one over.....

There used to be a local bar called Hookys... center of town... Back then there were more horses than people and more dairy cows than horses.
Hookys had hitch posts out front... Basically to keep the drunks from falling into the parking lot. One regular customer got too many DUIs and they pulled his license... He only lived a couple of miles from the bar in a house on the edge of a Big dairy farm.
He had a couple of horses One older mare was quite sweet and reliable... Hed saddle her up and ride to Hookys and Have a beer or twelve... But he could still get on that old mare tie her reins off and sleep all the way home. Shed graze along the way next to the highway eventually making it home where he would dismount... Um er Fall off.
Well you guessed it Cops hauled him in for a DUI....![]()
BTW you can also get a DUI riding a bicycle in California as well....
deb
love this story.
you don’t come across many like that.""you cant cure Stupid""@perchie.girl I used to live in Pekin, IL which is a river city on the Illinois.
On warm/hot summer weekends a cop would come down to the boat launch and use a speeding gun to clock boats going too fast for conditions and watch for drunk 'drivers'. They were always having accidents, sometimes fatal ones from people thinking it was okay to get plowed and operate a boat under the influence of whatever their alcoholic beverage was.
Humans will always find a way to act stupid. At least it gives the Coast Guard something to do.
