The Old Folks Home

Nahhh, I don’t think you’re old, even I do that!! I’m constantly like “everything has gotten so expensive!!”/“you used to be able to get this for $x!!” and I’m only 25 :lau :hide

But I feel like things have definitely gotten much more expensive even just since the 90s or even just like 10 years ago!!

And like for example, candy bars used to be under $1 or at least definitely not more than it, now they’re like $1.20 or whatever or more, and also, maybe I’m crazy, but they seem to me to have gotten way smaller too!! They used to fill the package. Not now. Seems like everything has gotten way smaller and way more expensive!! It’s a rip off.

Guess I am old at heart :lau :hide

Bought myself a nice part wool pea coat for a care length funny shopping for one asked a few plain old car length or pea coat car length they looked HUH never heard of either of them

Check out the LL Bean catalog. Their longer ones are called stadium length, but they have a nice assortment in varying lengths.

I am not sure it's old age causing the sticker shock. Even younger adults than us experience it. The "kids" are used to it, because they've never known prices to be much lower. I've said for a long time that, because of so many people in the word, and goods becoming a more "disposable", we have been running a bit short on raw materials for awhile now. Things have gotten to where they are thinner, flimsier, lighter weight, which require less resources. You would think that would drop the price, but as there are less resources, the price goes up. So many things could be built to last far longer, conserving money, and resources. The problem with that is, the manufacturers, and retailers would not make as much money, if consumers didn't have to replace, or buy new, more often.

For the past few days, in the wee hours of the morning, a pig has been showing up. It's just starting to get it's tusks. On one side, it has markings like it might have been a domestic pig that escaped from a farmer. I saw the other side of it this morning. What it looks like to me, is that a domestic pig escaped, bred with a wild one, and this is one of the mixed offspring.

I mentioned making a pen, luring it in, worming it, giving it good grain, and water, then butchering it for our freezer. Dh was shocked and appalled at the idea.

Certainly agree . I buy/bought most of my warm clothes, coats, jackets, even boots etc. from Lands end - they have an outlet store not far from us, so I can exchange or return things for free. Then LLBeans has a store right near it, so finally free returns to them also.:wee

That can be tough for a non farm person explain the butcher shop can usually do the kill, wrap ask for the bones with it great for the dogs lightly warmed to 160 in the oven or boiled for bone broth

Lands End has better sale prices and often 50% off some full price merchandise - plus sometime free shipping even on small orders. LLBean at most will give 20-25% off certain items but their stuff runs even higher priced than LE.

I packed up over 40 pairs of jeans- too large, too small, and bagged them up for Am-Vets - though I don't know who could use the small sizes and short inseams. Well maybe some lucky 12 year olds. All were in great condition.
