The Old Folks Home

Good morning old folk and not so old folk.

Got a good night sleep last night and woke up to ample bright sunshine this morning. Can't help but be in more relaxed state of mind.

Plus we had something really nice happen. Our closest neighbor with a very large, non Amish family, reached out to us via Email asking if we were all right and if we needed anything please please contact them and they would do their best to help.

So nice of them to do that. Even nicer to see this crisis bringing out the best in people in stead of the worse.

Thanks for posting the information on making face masks. The first 'home made' ones I remember seeing were being worn by surgical nurses. They were into these wild prints and there was also a pattern for hair covers going around at the time. These were the type that looked like a bonnet without the brim. They tied at the base of the neck and were very comfortable. I can remember my mom making a bunch of them for the OB nurses. wish I still had the pattern for them. May be worth a search.

Hope everyone is staying well and has a great Saturday. I'll be out working on my garden terrace once the temps come up.

I was searching for a thread that I could relate to. I noticed that the really active threads were the kids' threads. That's fine, but I really enjoy chatting with people my age (old.) Then I noticed the active state threads, but MY state's thread is hit or miss. I love the hatch-alongs and the swaps but those can be sporadic.

I really wanted to find a thread where anything and everything (within BYC rules) can be thrown out and other middle aged folks could relax and enjoy each others company. I want to have a thread where we can keep up with old BYC friends, and make new ones.

If that appeals to you, regardless of your age, please subscribe!
I agree. Im old and i dont wanna be edited. I have so much new info. Mainly wanna talk medicine but anything. Terrible at computer

Today is windy with a chance of storm blowing in. I need to go up to Santa Fe to hit a punch list of items, but a slew of showings is scheduled. The market has an uptick as folks are investing in real estate. And, despite the Covid-19 warnings, the realtors are kept busy even at a social distance. So perhaps tomorrow I'll venture up.

In the meantime I need to scrub and plug in an incubator for the second wave of eggs. It's "Set all the eggs!" day for the Easter Hatch-a-long.

Going to start making masks for my family.
A friend of mine started making masks. She was contacted by someone about the masks and told the masks could not be sold to be used to protect against the coronavirus. She did say in her ad that the masks were not intended to protect against the virus, only to make people aware of not touching their face.

I am alive. Called my Chiropracter on Thursday, Hadnt seen him in five years. He answered the phone. Always amazes me. He remembered me at once.

I told him I think I was having sacroiliac issues. weak in one leg pain in the back that radiates down into that leg. I was expecting an appointment next week or further out. He said How about tomorrow at 11. I said Great.

I had been afraid to walk that far even with a walker. but woke up that morning in reasonably good shape. He always puts you in a massage chair first. Man O man It felt good and very painfull all at the same time. I had sore muscles all the way up to my shoulder blades. I was ready to get out when the timer went off.

He tried to adjust me the regular way but my muscles were too rigid. So he used an electric hammer device Kind of like a massager but with a gentler touch than the massage chair. He said he uses this when the muscles are still too tough. He went all the way up my back and on my Sacroiliac several times.

I have had my bones around the sacroiliac adjusted before and its painful why I didnt want to go in the first place. This time it was tolerable. When I left I wasnt dragging my left foot any more.... :ya By the time I got home I could stand and walk without pain.

Before I left I said "I suppose I will need another adjustment" He said "Call me and we will get you in."

He explained that Great weight loss confuses the muscles. They are used to supporting you in a certain way They are incredibly strong in ways that you dont need any more. Weak in others that you do need now.

I asked about the Diabetic nerve pain and if the nerves will heal eventually. He said Kind of. It takes a very long time for nerves to heal. So there is hope that I can go off Gabapenton.

He charged me the same as when i first started with him 25 years ago. 35 dollars. I was stunned.

This morning I am feeling a bit of pain but not like it was before I went. I took my tylenol and Alive. and hopefully it will Help so I can keep on exercising the weak muscles. Walking, Standing, No lifting for a while, Care getting in the car. Stuff like that.
