The Old Folks Home

When the critter numbers start getting up there, I remind my DH that I could have far, far more expensive habits. (beauty parlor, casino, shopping, shoes, etc.). We're lucky that the chickens tend to pay for themselves with egg sales, hatching eggs and chicks.

That being said, Hubby has turned into a dog lover extraordinaire. We're one big happy pack!
The only good part about losing vet care is it eliminated all costs associated with chickens. Thanks to all you downhome advice givers out there i find that your home remedies work the best. Amazing. Corn starch instead of expensive septic , thousand times better. And now that VETRICYN vetrx are so cheap. Most of ypur emergencies are all about reaction time and you wont have time to make it to the vet anyway. Thanks to the rockstar who posted chickens emergency kit. Its what started it all for me, helped humans too. And cats. And the lifestock vet who said how desperate are you to have this bird cured and gave me the anipirin for free as a hail Mary pass. Cuz she was to stubborn to die but she had no quality of life.

We have a high percentage of seniors in our community, about 30+%. The grocery stores have set up special senior hours -- usually the first hour of opening @ 7:00 a.m. -- to accommodate their needs. Sadly, a lot of the stores have no eggs. Even more sad is that local chicken owners are charging double what they usually do for a dozen eggs. Not me! Karma is karma, after all. Making deliveries to my shut-in friends and checking on their welfare from a social distance.

Many of my friends are going stir-crazy. To create a distraction I've started an on-line art gallery where each day folks are encouraged to post a picture of something that brings them joy -- painting, sculpture, ceramics -- and post a little story about it if they have one. It's nice to open up your in-box and not have doom & gloom.
Yes it is. I came for information but its just so fun. We sure do love our animals.still having big time problems with site. Learning enough now to know its not user errer all the time .when people come here sometimes its an emergency. What killed me was dark angel with the gooses and ducks . He had a question about antibiotics dosage. And i had the exact same antibiotic in my hand after doing extensive reasearch about it. Because were scared when were playing veterinarian and we are afraid of doing harm and thers no instructions. Moreover i had been doing it for 2 weeks with no side effects.i was getting ready on a qiuet day and saw his post. 5 minutes ago. Thought it was meant to be and wanted to take away all the uncertainty i felt, the websites wouldnt let me on and said i didnt exist. Said my email valid. To add insult to injury when it asked for my password over and over the ad kept appearing in the password box. Sorry backyard chickens but its true. I want to buy these amazing products . There is such a market for this stuff and you could make your business just selling them.there is no excuse to do this when it is at the sake of quality. The free hearts websites got you beat for messages chat rooms links and accessibility world wide, cuz no ads. Didnt mean to rant but its true. Why am i here than. Because i wanted to post and see you guys and i was looking for cat whisperer and a couple others .thanx.i hope by posting everywhere it will reach people like it did me.

I just read a story on one of the news feeds that there is an upsurge in pet adoptions. Single people are adopting dogs and cats to keep them company while being on lock down and as an excuse to get out of the house and walk them a bit (dogs not cats) Families are getting dogs for their kids to play with and our favorite foul, CHICKENS, even got a byline that people are even getting urban chickens to give their kids projects and provide the family with eggs.

So far nobody knocking at our gate asking for cackle fruit but then this is farm and Amish country, you can't swing a rooster by the tail without hitting somebody's hen.

Spent the afternoon outside here. I seriously needed to put the C-19 word out of my mind for a bit.I got two feet of dirt moved on my terrace project then helped DH murder two trees in the name of radio propagation. Don't worry, the hardwood tree that was a scrub tree at best will keep us warm and the cedar tree will be put to the terrace project.

Glad your chiro is so accommodating and you got some relief.
You might find your balance is off, too. When you lose weight your center of gravity shifts.

(I lost a lot of weight at one time and started falling down a lot. Nothing more humbling than having toddler scraped knees....)
I am falling regularly. still too weak to get up on my own unless there is a wooden chair around. I hate it.

Big group of people in India say drinking cow pee will cure it.

Wanna try some?

:pop
I think that drinking antifreeze will kill the virus too. Kill the host, kill the virus.
Better spread that around FB and other "influencer" sites ;)

There is no guarantee that a vaccine for covid19 will work. We cannot make one for the common cold LOL!
And the common cold IS a Corona virus. C-19 is related to the common cold, not the flu. Thus I agree with you, a vaccine might be pretty hard to create.

When I left I wasnt dragging my left foot any more.... :ya By the time I got home I could stand and walk without pain.
:yesss: Super like that Deb!!

And those are the same people who will complain from here to eternity that there is no TP in the stores because all the hoarders are taking advantage. :smack

I REALLY hope all those animals don't get returned once the people aren't stuck at home anymore. Sadly I suspect a fair number of them will be.
