Chickens do have taste buds.. The ones I have right now are really picky but they do love alfalfa hay. Did you have to soak them?I tried giving my hens timothy hay cubes...It is one thing they will not touch!

Mine do. I swear! I buy good layer pellets for them and they won't eat them. They love the local MFA's hog production pellets though. So I mix them with game bird finisher and give the hens oyster shell on the side. I'm happy because I don't find 6 inches of ruined feed under their feeders and they are happy because they are getting what they like to eat. Score Score. Plus the hog production pellets are lower in protein so they aren't so fat and healthier.Chickens do have taste buds.. The ones I have right now are really picky but they do love alfalfa hay. Today is Pearl Harbor Day. Please take a moment to remember all those people who were killed at Pearl Harbor and the service men and women who died as a result to the starting of WWII.
