The Old Folks Home

Got 4" of snow. The pretty kind. The chickens didn't want to come out much today. They sure came out for snack time, though. Warm mash with barley grass trimmings on it. Not a bit left! I'm going to use up the fines/bits of their food as mash for snack time this next week.

Dang, I didn't do much today. Got a nap in, so it wasn't a total waste of a day. :)

Not even their regular food, moistened into a mash? Not sure how that is different from them just eating their regular food... only they like it better and go crazy for it.:idunno
I give mine a few chopped greens and moistened (warm) mash. I figure hot tea feels good to me and a little winter boredom breaker helps me. Especially if they are cooped up all day. Its not like giving them fattening foods. They love their dish of snow too-but no walking in snow!! I notice they've been very active in their dirt tub to.

I attached a feed guide for chickens. I like the description about how much table scraps to give them.

Following the guide should help with egg quality

You can give them their feed as mash. Remember though, grower feed in not the best thing for hens
