The Old Folks Home

Yeah! Cake with fire day! I LOVE it.

We eat cake twice a year....2 birthdays. I almost went with cherry cheese cake this year. Dang it all, it's my birthday, I'm old enough to choose my own cake. Finally opted out for an Amish recipe cake called Mom's One Egg Cake. turns out almost like a blonde brownie cake. Very moist and one layer. Just enough for two peeps....oh and the 6 dogs, yes, they get a tiny slice of cake also.

At our age, EVERYONE celebrates a birthday.

Still may do it after I have my bloodwork done on Wednesday.

Doctor finally caught me at a weak moment, LOL. Oh shoot have to wait until after the end of September. he wants to check my cholesterol since I'm on the Prolia and it can cause a rise in cholesterol. Since I had the strong steroid shot two months ago I spent about 6 weeks eating anything that couldn't crawl away from me and gained 9 pounds. He gave me a reprieve and told me he'd give me 8-10 weeks of eating like I normally do...meaning very little red meat and mainly poultry and fish. Before checking it. He said he'd rather check a person's numbers when it reflects how they normally eat.

But man those steaks and pasta were delicious. Almost worth taking Lopid over, LOL

My dad lived to be 94 and died in his sleep. Mom 79. Neither had a full helping of French fries in their happy meal. Both had dementia. Dad was happily confused but didn't know anybody before he died and mom had a particularly violent form of vascular dementia.

Neither really took care of themselves but I figure if I take care of myself I have a chance of outliving both of them. Will all my marbles be there? Who knows. I think I'm missing a shooter or two now,:wee

It's a personal goal for me.

So Dh crohns kicked in and thus the infection and continued high fever. The fever may be due to the antibiotics at work (hopefully!) He's considered a fall risk so everything he does needs a nurse with him, it goes a little against the independent nature. They finally told me I can get a parking pass so I don't have to pay the parking every day..yay for that!

I'm sorry to hear that he is having a flare, Lovesfarms. C
Crohn's disease is nothing to take lightly and can make your life miserable. I am glad that they are taking his fall risk seriously.

Prayers sent that he is feeling better.

How are you feeling? Dealing with a Crohn's flair affects the whole family when one happens. Make sure you take care of you.
