The Old Folks Home

Going to turn 70 next week. Don't feel that old. Read the news and they are talking about vintage things from the 60s and 70s, then I realize how old I was back then, look at my reflection in the mirror and groan...yep I'm 70, thank God!
Riding dirt bikes; that's a good thing!

Well my doctor doesn't think so but what he doesn't know won't hurt him.:hmm Personally I think they rock!

Told my husband if I wind up on the ground and break a bone and they ask me what I was doing I'm going to tell them 'something completely inappropriate for my age and having the time of my life doing it!':wee
:wee

Not when all the bones sign a petition against it.
"We don't stop riding because we get old, we get old because we stop riding"

With today's modern polymer science and manufacturing, there is so much good protection equipment available that you're safer on the bike than you are walking to the commode in the middle of the night in your skivies.
Chest protection is probably tougher for females, but I have taken hits on mine that have left me breathless for a couple minutes. Not to mention hits on the shoulder or back that didn't.

20 years ago, My doctor recommended that I take a baby aspirin every day to prevent a heart attack.
I told him that I had read Dr Barry Sears book 'Enter the Zone', and I didn't think that it was a good idea.
Well, based on my race and habits of eating salt and red meat, not to mention weight fluctuations, I was technically in a higher risk group.
Guess who had a heart attack nine years ago and guess who has a healthy heart?
CLUE: I'm having steak for dinner AGAIN tonight!
(Bosslady wants it, so guess what? 😆)

But do they make that stuff for rooster protection.... For roosters who take issue of not being allowed to roost where ever they take a notion to.

Agreed. I need to get a neck brace as I have moderate to severe arthritis and degenerative disc and foramen disease in most of my cervical vertebrae and discs not to mention my neck in general.

Doctor told me to stop riding in 18 because my left hip had osteoporosis in it and I was at high risk for a fracture. I listened to him until last year. Had my second dexa-scan done and it showed improvement after three torturous years on Prolia injections. Doctor didn't think I was improved enough and wanted me to start back on the Prolia. I flat out said NO! It was wrecking my quality of life.

Went home, got out my Yammy TTR-125 and have been riding ever since. I'll keep riding till I can't kick start it then I'll get an electric start. If it gets too painful to throw my leg over the seat I'll get a step stool.

What do you ride, Pollo?

@CapricornFarm, so would I but it's the mucking out the stall and hauling bales of hay that put a damper on getting another horse at this stage of my life. I tell my DH that horses are much more a challenge than a motorcycle to ride. They go fast but they have a mind of their own. You can't just twist the throttle and hang on with a horse. You have to be thinking one step ahead of them at all times.

One of my retirement goals was to get another horse. I miss my Appaloosa, Billie to this day. There will never be one like her but I wanted to get back to riding. My joint inflammation and arthritis in my back meant the heavy lifting work was out of the question.

The good part about riding my dirt bike is that it's 'closer' to the ground should I fall.

Still I would love to have a horse.
