The Old Folks Home

UPDATE -dosed her yesterday with with scrambled egg (could never resist that no matter how bad she felt) in a bit of water loaded with nutridrench and probiotics in the main water supplies for everyone.  By mid afternoon she was no longer hiding but still moving a little slow and by evening she was back to her old squawky, energetic self and ravenously hungry.  She was totally back to normal this morning.  Thinking now she must have been the one that had stopped laying and a combination of our humid heat and her first egg in a while just had her not feeling so well???

Oh, and favorite berry pickin' patch opens tomorrrow! :celebrate

SCG, was that you with bee hives?
I'm trying to inspect mine today but the weather is really crappy. I'm hoping for a little sunlight to get the stingers out of the hive for a while.

I am one of a couple on here with hives. Last time I went in the little stinkers had made comb in all kinds of places where they shouldn't have essentially gluing each box to the box below and above it. And the queen was laying eggs in my honey super.

I cleaned up a lot of it, but they were really starting to get angry with me, so I closed up before making it nice and pretty again.

On the upside, I have a canning jar of wax that I've scraped out of the hive sitting next to my computer. I open it and huff it every so often. My name is SCG and I love the way the inside of a bee hive smells... so sweet. I can walk next to the hive and smell it, too.

the smells of a bee colony. I miss keeping bees. Had a dream several nights ago that I was establishing a hive using a package of bees. SCG, do you think that your colony needs another brood super?
