The humidity doesn't have to be an issue. They just need to lose a certain amount of moisture during the entire incubation. If you have a small incubator, go with a dry incubation and raise it when you need to for pipping and then let it get more arid again. The biggie is to have it more moist when they internally pip.How does that work with only one incubator? Doesn't the fluctuation in humidity for lockdown have an adverse effect?
Well, over-ordering (for once) adequately compensates as out of the 40-ish eggs I will actually have I should be able to -- the hatching gods willing -- end up with 8-10 fem chicks.![]()
Even without the fourth batch of eggs coming in I'll have a crowded incubator. At least I won't have to decide who doesn't ride the racks as there will be room for all.
(Did I mention I was a hatchaholic? Oh, yeah. A good incubator is a full incubator)
