The Old Folks Home

I think you should do this. I put my treadmill in our living room and the fact I can work out and watch TV at the same time is keeping me going. Bought the treadmill months ago and I have only taken time off here and there. Trying to see if the additional exercise is going to get my cholesterol level out of the "high normal" range and it is seriously helping with the hiking.
My Sister's cholesterol went from normal to high normal. She could not figure out what had changed--turned out she has stopped taking her daily Metamucil.

Add a dose of Psyllium fiber to your day.

I like St Louis.

My first experience there was driving through on my Way to Baltimore from LA in January 1994.

The second was to decide on barcode technology for a nationwide hospital corp a few years later.

The thin crust Pizza was awesome - as with frozen custard at Ted Drewes

Where there are guns there are death by guns. The constituitional right to bear arms makes for hair cops trigger Its inevitable. It was just St Louis' turn
Wow, The Hill style pizza and Ted Drewes, you're a St. Louisan by proxy.

My stepdaughter and her husband lived in St. Louis for a bit. He's from there originally. They met while in New Orleans in college. At present she's in Tulsa, which isn't as interesting BUT it has the grandkids there.

Always loved visiting St. Louis. The zoo is spectacular and so much better in person than it was portrayed on the TV show eons ago (which, as I recall, was on Sunday night). Loved the Butterfly House. Also visiting the Clydesdales. The museum at the base of the Arch is interesting, too.
We're getting a whole new museum below the arch. The whole area from the arch to downtown is being rebuilt to provide a veranda over I-70 more easily linking the two.

Who will get post #20000?
Me? Maybe we should save it for Wisher.

Thanks to you both and ChickenCanoe :) I really didn't feel right about treating the, but was afraid I was just in denial.

The "shipping" was 35 minutes in my car, 4 hours at work in a warmed box where they kept spilling water, and I tried but failed to keep up with replacing wet with dry bedding, and then another 2 hours between my car and another car to get them to their new home. I'll bet the fault is mine for not being more diligent about keeping the bedding dry, plus the stress; even though not the USPS in a box, still stressful to move them about. I was relieved the only symptom was the bloody poop, they never stopped eating and drinking and moving about.

I heard as I was doing chicken chores tonight that Robin Williams is dead, and that it is suspected he killed himself. So sad.
When not travelling far, just a few hours, I make sure the chickens had water before I left, that they don't get hot on the road and forget supplying water on the road.

....
Anyone here hatch quail intended for release? I am trying to figure out what age is safe for release if I do this.
I was planning on doing so but not sure if I'll get it done this year. We have a lot of good habitat with no quail. My plan was to provide a range feeder and let them become acclimated to their environment well before winter. There's a pond near and streams. I think they can get naturalized pretty quick.

A chicken can fend for themselves pretty early if there's a water source so I think quail would be fine at sexual maturity or about 6+ weeks.

I've only had a few frizzles.

Yea, I liked the days when we actually wrote with pens and pencils and wrting was sort of an art. We all had our own style. They don't even teach cursive any more. But now, if I have to write at work, my hand gets sore and tired. Whole lot easier hitting keys...guess I'll have to start exercising my hands.
Oh, do you remember the yellow paper with the blue lines and little chunks of wood in it? We practiced our loops and lines for small and capital letters...and then graduated a few years later to cursive! Being a leftie I was taught how to write upside down and backwards so as not to smudge.

My 19 y.o. nephew writes like a first grader. Never had to learn penmanship. His younger sister wants to be a cartoonist and so has far better handwriting, but there is no elegance or style....but then they type and text everything anyway. Amazing what technology has obliterated, individuality from the pen.

We talk about the F word in our house: Fiber. I was getting the daily inquisition (and not in a nice way) as to how much flax seed and bran was in whatever I created. Any dish was suspect. So I started stuffing my DH with fresh veggies and fruits bought daily from the local Hispanic market (shopped at because the prices were waaaay cheaper than the chains AND the produce was still-got-dirt-on-it fresh). This led to a lot of southwestern style dishes. His cholesterol dropped 100 points. Now I get to joke how fiber is his friend. If I could only get him to drop the tortilla chips.....

(That's a bit of an inside joke, but let me tell you - I have found the secret to leaving work early. Have one of those puppies for breakfast.)

@Peep_Show...After my FIL had by pass surgery, he went through some extreme mental changes which was only controlled by medication. He went from a mild mannered, funny man into a raging manic-depressive. He would often quit taking his meds because they made him feel drowsy and slow and eventually was court ordered to take them. He got arrested 10 times in one year...definitely not the man I knew.

That is scary!

I have a date for a cardio workup early next month. At my last physical my EKG was a little schizzy and my new doc suggested that maybe I had had a heart attack in the past. WHAT?? News to me! Especially considering I had just spent the last year packing up and moving three houses and rehabbing another one. Scary to think I had an episode and didn't even know it. What's next, a stroke where I just wake up feeling kind of stupid that day? (LOL there...that's most mornings for me until I'm caffeinated.) My sister's jaw dropped when I told her, "But you're strong as an ox!" I'm hoping that maybe a recent lightning strike on the medical building fritzed the machine as I certainly do not want to undergo a procedure. This household cannot fathom two depressed people and, frankly, I like my sunny disposition. I worked long and hard to get to a happy place. Now I'm getting p.o.'ed just thinking about it.....

There is a tasteless fiber made from wheat that can be added to baked products. They sell it in the same place that the fiber is located.

It is a good way to sneak in extra fiber.

Oz will know since he is a cardio Guy but I think they are supposed to have a base EKG to compare the new one to. I would not worry about it too much but do keep working on being healthy.

Sometimes the anesthesia and time during the operation causes brain damage. If they stopped the heard and used an artificial pump, then things like behavior can change in a person.
