Ever since the mink and raccoons destroyed most of my flock, I've been setting every egg that was over 50 grams. That meant I had to eat a lot of eggs that were so dark. Intense reddish maroon is appropriate for the breed and they were beautiful but the pullet eggs were just too small to incubate.

I now have too many chicks hatching to count.

Not being able to count your chickens is a good technique if you are married.
