I had a big day.

I cleaned out both pens in the breeder barn (two coops to go) and refilled with plenty of shavings. I cleaned the feeders and waterers and refilled them.

I helped DH cut down two huge dead pines that I was afraid were going to fall on my breeder barn, one almost did! I realized after they fell that they were not going to fall any time soon, they were solid in the trunks.

I put some large logs in the goat pen for them to play on. Two of them I stood up on end and one I laid on it's side in front of them. I also put a 2x8 against one of them like a ramp and a wooden spool at the back as a step up to the top which is about 3 1/2 feet tall. They wasted no time jumping on it to explore.

I wormed 1/4 of my Silver Campines before it got too dark to see.

I enjoyed it but, of course, I threw out my back. I'm off to take a couple of Motrins, a hot shower, and then to bed.

I wormed one hutch worth tonight. Tomorrow I will worm the big coup and will then be finished for now.

Geez, you guys make me feel like a real slacker.

I was going to spend the day working on a new coop and run that I have been wanting to build for some time. Some of it involves "repurposed" materials, which need to be freed from their previous purpose. I had been making steady progress at disassembling a fence for maybe an hour when I ripped up the knuckles on one hand backhanding a t-post that I was trying to dig up. Work therefore ground to a halt while I toddled into the house to stop the bleeding. While I was doing that, a thunderstorm blew up, and it continued to be noisy and/or wet pretty much until dusk. In the meantime, my knuckles have developed a fair amount of bruising, and it has become pretty painful to close my hand. Looks like the construction project has been delayed yet again . . . .

I can understand some small dogs, dachshunds are excellent trackers and terriers keep the rat and mouse population down. But chihuahuas I don't like, or breeds with too flat faces to breathe, or people who feed their dogs into lardballs.

Our dachshund...he thinks he's a big boy when it comes to strangers, but is a chicken, when it comes to the chickens! He runs from them. Not sure how he would act around a rodent.

His coloring is called, Piebald

I haven't seen a piebald before, it's not one of the accepted colors here. Here's our sausage, looking grumpy in the sofa since she hadn't gotten her breakfast yet.
