The Old Folks Home

henible I used to not worry about using the rule of thirds but since I am trying to improve my photography skills, I am forcing myself to really look at the composition before snapping the picture. This makes for a lot less "waste" in post processing since I don't have to crop most of my photo away. :D

Cleaver, for sure. But I like to fiddle in Photoshop etc also. When I can I try to line up my shots but I don't bother if I'm using the phone camera. I have a tiny tripod it's maybe 5 inches tall and the legs are tough and flexible, I've gotten some nice pics with that silly thing. Best Christmas cracker ever! :)

Vehve & Karin, I am also very sad to read about Willimina

I lost my Charlie-Bear nearly 4 years ago on Christmas Day due to Epilepsy; she lived with it all her life and made it to 12 years old. I still miss her so very much and it still hurts!

You are both in my thoughts.

So true, friends dragged me the 4 times I went. Hence the reason I stayed with the penny slots.
I never play the lottery either.
The odds are what?

I used to live in Vegas.... Before Caesars palace even... Best pink panther voice.

Dad would get his pay check and NOT come home on Friday night.... MOM would be furious. He almost always doubled or trippled it playing Keno.

The best way to have a small fortune in Vegas is start with a large one.

All those big casinos were not built by the playing of winners....

But the odds are tweaked by the casinos especially on the computerized machines.... and they are better than the Indian casinos. The thing is if there are no winners where is the draw to bring people in.

Vegas is probably the cheapest vacation destination there is.... From discount air fair to Half price rooms if you go during the week.... Of course you can pay big bucks.... but heck whats a hotel room for... sleeping.

I would go back for the shows and some of the museums and a little gambling at some of the lower bet black jack tables.... My favorite. I would rather play cards with money designated for entertainment than buy a lottery ticket... When i turned 21 mom and dad gave me two hundred dollars and turned me loose in the Mint Down town. I played black jack for about eight hours straight had about four free drinks and a sandwich on the house.... and came away forty bucks ahead. I got to meet alot of very interesting people in the mean time.

the deal is play with play money not the rent.... My dads issue.

Preachin' to the choir, Perchie! I lived in LV for close to a decade, and the locals avoided the Strip like the plague. Only if you had tourist friends visit would we dare venture down there. And if you haven't been back there in awhile it has changed in character and look.

Before we moved to Vegas I would vacation there and was a blackjack fiend. Once we moved there the only time we went to the casinos was to enjoy the buffets. Gaming totally lost its cachet for me.... Didn't need to have a "Come to Jesus" moment or anything: It just lost its appeal. Probably like anything that is readily accessible becomes less desirable.

Was glad when we put Nevada in our rearview mirror. Three years there was about right. Ten years was eons too long.

So today is day 25 for the duck eggs and they are now in lock down! I have 5 of the six eggs moving and we just heard a few peeps! My god it's amazing to watch. I'm a nervous wreck.the sixth egg was slipped in by my middle DD so it's a good day behind the rest so we are hoping it will catch up.

I will say, though, it was pretty darn convenient to just go to the local casino to bet on horse races. DH and I would bet $6 each weekend. By the end of the summer we won enough to put ceiling fans throughout the house and replace all the faucets. (That was a GOOD year!)
