The Old Folks Home

SCG will be on her way to AZ tomorrow. DH and I are picking her up at the airport in Flagstaff for our adventure to the Grand Canyon.

I was going to ask you this when I saw that you are going to go Grand Canyon!

So today is day 25 for the duck eggs and they are now in lock down! I have 5 of the six eggs moving and we just heard a few peeps! My god it's amazing to watch. I'm a nervous wreck.the sixth egg was slipped in by my middle DD so it's a good day behind the rest so we are hoping it will catch up.

No offense, but how do you plan on the later egg 'catching up'? Did you put it in a warmer part of the incubator?
... I gave one of them my $10 once and lasted 25 min on the slots and never went back. THINK of all the money I've saved over the years. My DD Aimee's 1st set of in-laws went to the track, boats, and bingo. ...

Once, for my wife's birthday, she wanted to go to the casino. That was our first time. We each had $50. When that was gone, I suggested hitting the ATM. She said, "let's go". And we did.

While there, we ran into friends a bit younger than us. Our daughters had been in dance school together. This was in January. They told us they went all the time. The wife of the couple was wearing a light jacket. I asked if they had been successful in their gambling. She said, "If we were, I'd have a much warmer coat than this."
That simple statement told me a lot.

I am completely blown away by the great photos you can get out of a phone these days. It really is amazing. Those gorilla tripods are really handy too. I do "fiddle"

with my pictures in Photoshop too. Mostly to adjust the color a bit or little things. Sometimes I do more (layers and such) but I am just really learning how really use the full program. There are a ton of things I don't know how to do yet. I have a book and I look up videos a lot on how to do different stuff. The main reason to have a DSLR is the ability to shoot in RAW format. That format allows you to correct a lot of shooting mistakes like adjusting exposure and such. Looking forwards to our trip tomorrow down to the Grand Canyon for a few days. This is my graduation/birthday present to myself.

I went to the Grand Canyon with my parents when I was 14, would love to see it with my boys, now. On that same trip, we went to Vegas. I quickly realized that a slot machine that had just paid out was not a good bet for my next quarter. Mom, Dad, and I went to Denny's on the strip for breakfast at about 3am. There were three slot machines next to the cash register to collect people's change as they were leaving. We had to wait in line nearly an hour for a table. While waiting, I noticed that one of the three paid off. When we got a table and were eating, I saw a second one in that bunch pay off. As we were paying at the register, waiting on change, I told my Dad to put his change in the third machine. He looked at me funny when he reached toward the first one and I said NO! THAT one! He put three quarters in the third machine and it paid off! It gave him enough to pay for our meal and tip!

We went to Vegas a couple of years ago for a friend's wedding. I have to say I did not like it very much. I hated all of the people handing out cards for the "ladies" on the streets. It was insulting to me to have them trying to hand cards to DH. It just felt dirty walking down the strip. I did enjoy the show we went to. It was an Aussie band called Human Nature. Almost two hours of really great Motown hits. Loved every minute of that.

Quote: Thanks Ron, I just worry about folks when I don't see them on for awhile. I don't always get to read through the whole thread.
I once had a co-worker that never missed a day of work in over 17 years and he did not show up to work. I went to our boss and told him to have someone go check on him!
They found him in the floor he did not make it and no one checked on him. That was very sad and I could not believe that no one missed him.

We saw Bobbie Gentry (Ode to Billy Joe) and Larry Storch (stand up comedian, F-Troup.) I also saw Jonathan Winters sitting at a bar in one of the casinos, he gave me a cute grin and little wiggly finger wave when he noticed that I had recognized him.

I have heard about that happening. It happened to a BYCr a couple of winters ago. A delivery person or mail man noticed the door open. After searching for some number of days, they found mother and child under the ice in a pond on the property. The best guess is that they were trying to get an animal out.

This happened in the Sierras of California, up out of Sacramento somewhere.
