The Old Folks Home

Wow I'm going to have to read that in few "sit downs", it's pretty long. And pretty freaky.

Yes,yes and yes.

I'm not a huge fan of propylene glycol though it is useful at times. But this just makes it scarey. Check out how many diverse things have it as an ingredient. PG "carries" everything with it into the blood stream so when it's contaminated, the contaminants get to work that much faster. Great.

I know it can be heart breaking! So when ever I don't notice someone for awhile on here or in my friends around here or family I have to find out what is up! I don't like it when ppl just disappear with out any notice bad things come to mind. If we all try to keep up with all our friends then just maybe we could help in an emergency! Like Linda (grey eyes) she has not been on in forever!
It's one of the more difficult things about "forum life." People come and go as they choose; and you may never know what inspires the choice. Linda was last on about 6 weeks ago, and I seem to recall that she had at least one extended absence previously. There are several people from BYC that I haven't heard from in months, but having no means of contacting them, I can only hope that all is well with them and that they will come back and touch base once in a while.
You are right Bunnylady. I hope they are all fine and pop back in from time to time.

But if y'all don't hear from me or see me online even if I don't post, something is wrong!!!!!!

It was a clear, cool day and perfect for working in the yard. I finished framing the coop today! I've been just sort of freewheelin' it and building without any plans. I discovered the more windows you have, the more math there is. I've got eight windows (6 that are working, so had to arrange predator proofing for those), a coop door, a nestbox door, a chicken door, a roost cleanout door and two large vents. Plus the underneath will be enclosed for storage.

Above is the side with two windows and the chicken door on the far right.

This side has three windows and the nest box.

This has from left to right a small viewing window at roost height, the double door, and a large working window.

AND I've been being really efficient. This is the pile of leftover debris and scrap from all the work thus far sitting on the 12x12 pavers.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll work on the roost shelf and pullout PDZ box, then off to sheathing and siding. When it's all done I'll probably post a coop article on BYC about the building challenges (like only having a Hyundai to transport materials and working single-handedly).

Looks great...
Tomorrow ( kids and weather permitting ) I will be turning 1/3 of a huge pen into a temporary 8x12 coop. Mine will not be coop how to article worthy.
I'd love to see picks of you Hyundai loaded with siding and sheeting :gig

Looks like a great coop in the making. You see to have included everything I like - especially windows ( you don't want claustrophobic hens) Too bad you're not here, I love to WATCH someone do all the work, I can spectate for hours without getting tired or bored though I could stand a few snacks.
