It wasn't a decrowed ayam cemani, it was one of the babies that I got when I got the white bresse. It's ok, there are just far too many roosters in there and now my bf hurt his hand, so no more caponizing any time soon. It looks like culling it will be, as soon as it warms up. I'm going to try to herd the ones going to freezer camp into the one coop to with hold them from food for 24 hours and water for 12 to process them in the kitchen or basement. The one muscovy last week made my bf retch due to smell. So 5 going and just me.. well.. I need it done along with these other excess roosters. Like I had wanted done several weeks ago. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he got hurt on purpose.. but it's really bad. The injury on his hand went to bone. I haven't heard back from the vet as I need those 2 white bresse roos decrowed asap, but I heard an older too died recently during the proceedure, so maybe a break is needed.

Too bad for Nugget the haffie. Freezer camp for him too now. He's relentless on Wobbles. Boss & Reginald won't let him near Oreo, Morgana & Morticia. I need to integrate Cookie a haffie pullet into that flock, cull the 5 roos. Agh.

The sub was actually a mini sub, and nationality has not been confirmed. But probably Russian.

Chickens are much easier to process than ducks. It also helps if you dont name them.

It seems like you you have taken on a breeding program in an area not ideal for breeding - if you cant keep a rooster

As winter seems that its going to be around for a while, do you have a conringency plan for those expensive birds?

My ducks name was Beck... I ate him... I expected processing to be harder after some research... It wasn't really any harder than a chicken... Well, except for the cuteness factor...

I saw fresh duck eggs for sale at a Korean grocery store today for $1 each. I may switch over to ducks
