The Old Folks Home

Went to tsc to get feed they had the cutest little banties. I had pretend the cashier was tick giving me a walk away speech.
I am very proud of you....

Hey, tick, I don't need yer talk - I am getting my chick fix here at home! Three broodies have hatched six chicks (so far) in the last three days. One broody hen is a proven mom, while two are pullets who went broody a month after starting to lay. They are co-broodies, sharing the same nest area. .

But now I don't "need" to go to any feed store with chicks - got my own! (There is a feed store that carries my brand of feed but does NOT ever have chicks. Feed only, all kinds, horses, sheep, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, cows, goats... I had been considering making a trip to the feed store I used to frequent, but it's 45 miles away..... And it's where I have purchased many chicks in the past. Great place, wonderful staff, best chick variety. Got my very first chicks there, as a matter of fact.)

My flock makes wonderfullly mixed members.

I'd walk around it if it wasn't all over my property. My one chicken gate is still frozen to the ground, so I have to go around to the other. Not a big deal. The goat gate, on the other hand, is one of only one gate... and when that gets frozen to the ground I have to climb over. That is not a sight to behold.

My property is very shady and hilly. A few degrees above freezing means it melts, and runs down and re-freezes in a new area. We had snow again yesterday afternoon, but only a coating, so you couldn't see the terrain. It was like a horrible game of minesweeper.

So far this morning, I only slipped once. And no falls. I took two naproxen before bed and honestly feel better than yesterday. I can feel something still going on, but I was able to get my coat on this morning without the weird little dance that I had to do yesterday on account of my sore arm.

Ugh! Sounds about like here. My DH took out the ax the other day, and chopped it up in front of my smaller coop. He had to break ice up in front of the gate to the larger coop too. It's crazy out there. An ax! It was pretty thick.
Have to say, you always make me chuckle. "Not a sight to see" he he.

And, an update on my son that was in the hospital. He has been going weekly, then two weeks, and now will only go once a month to have his blood checked..he's on the Warrfarin. He looks soo much better. Whew. It took a while, but he is doing better in a lot of ways, and getting stronger. Yaay!

So glad to hear he's doing better and to once a month warfarin monitoring. That mean's he's stable on it!!!

We used to have a heavy iron pole that we'd lift up and then stab into the snow and ice to break it up. I haven't seen it in a few years, wonder where it is? Not like I can do it with the current state of my arms, though.

I didn't fall today, although I did slip some. Felt my back twinge on one of them, but I don't think it was a bad pull. I swear at this rate tomorrow I'm going to fall on my face and knock my teeth out.

Good thing we're supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow night. That should improve the traction situation.

Well, apparently I did tweak something, but not badly. Just enough to be annoying (given the meds I take on a daily basis).

Just ordered a wireless router. Apparently the TV set I bought when I moved here is a "Smart TV" and if it accesses the 'Net connection, I can stream stuff to it... And link my iPad to access my computer. Hmmm. We will see. Hoping the installation wizard is geared to my level, which used to be higher but I've gotten stoopid lately. As well as clumsier.

My best friend slipped in college on some sleet and broke her teeth on a manhole cover. She still hasn't been able to tell me the full story, cause I just can't take it.

I didn't realize that was a "common" phenomena. Perhaps I should buy a mouth guard.
