The Old Folks Home

Oz, hope you get loads of piggies sold.

Thanks Vehve

The piglets will sell no problem. I am hoping to sell them locally as they a very good piglets and the gilts will make excellent breeder sows. They are too good to eat.

My shipping of semen from a genetics farm up North is paying off with quality oinkers.

I posted an ad on olx.com.ph and have got a potential buyer. I just cant understand his abbreviated tagalog in a text. Waiting for the English version lol

We paid a whopping $7 for 2 screen printed tarps 24x36" to put on a sandwich board on the road.

Hopefully we can sell them at the farm gate.

Well...I almost hate to come out of lurkville but after reading the above post about the cold I hesitate to mention the "cold bast" heading our way. We are expecting very cold temps for wed/thur of 33/14 and 34/21. Here in north GA we don't like weather that cold...ha!

Even thouugh I am a native of the area we are having to acclimate to the winters here again. We have been going west (travel trailer) for the winter, AZ, south TX for about 15 years. We sold the travel trailer and truck and hung up our traveling shoes this year and I can tell you the cold is really bothering us. With 15 years of mostly being out of it plus 15 years older and the thinning blood it feels darn cold to us!

But we will have to learn to cope again...and we have chickens now for the 1st time in many years...so we are here and here is where we will be as long as possible.

All I can say is BURRRRR! and if it was as cold here as some of you are experiencing I would be calling oz to see if he needed help on the beach, er, farm! :)

Happy New Year to all!!! Sorry I missed a few days and I have to admit, once I got to the point of the eating of guinea pig on the thread, I had to skip to this point. Iguana and guinea pig are not on my menu. ;) I did want to relate the story of the scorpion and SCG. We had hiked down to Horseshoe Mesa at the Grand Canyon and were on our way back up. SCG hikes faster than me so she was ahead on the trail. As she passed it on the way up she remarked, "Look somebody left a plastic scorpion on the trail". As I got to it I realized it was a REAL scorpion and looked up at her and said "Ummmm, NO not plastic". Thank goodness she didn't grab it like she planned. :lau
I have been working on a "bubble" quilt for the grandbaby and finally finished it. I will NEVER make one of these again. Way too frustrating. It is for the floor thank goodness because I think the weight of the thing would crush a baby.

It's going to be in the 50's today and tonight freezing.

I called the co-op to see when she could order a female duckling for me and when I told her why she laughed and said she has a friend that has some and that she will talk to her today and see if she can get me a grown hen. YEAH! Then just quarantine for a few weeks! This would be a lot faster for Duck Duck! I have tried all the facebook and poultry pages trying to find him a girlfriend. lol

dsqard sorry about the guinea pig thing.

Your bubble quilt is amazing it is so cute!

Oz I hope you sell all the little piggies you want.

Welcome Gypsy hopefully this cold front will move out quickly!

Chicka no need to apologize! I am sure we all mention things from time to time that doesn't agree with the members of the thread. If my skin was that thin, I shouldn't leave my house! ;) I do what most people do, skip over the parts I don't want to read. :D
