It's dropping to 56 here tonight, and tomorrow's high will only be 72. I can't even imagine -75. I would be packing up, lock, stock, and barrel, and moving somewhere warmer.

I loved it too, Alaskan! So glad to hear you are warm, honest. I'm not taking our situation so lightly anymore.
They've started posting the school closings and even closed a highway or two to our north. What the???? missed the evening news as we were watching football. So I rechecked the weather report, yep it's been revised.. We are under windchill warnings now until Tuesday pm with the potential of windchills dropping by tomorrow night for our area to as low windchills to -75 F!!!! I had to check that twice, we have dropped pretty low before but Never close to that!!! I am going to need to seriously re-think my livestock strategy. Sustained temps of actual -30 to -40 F (Ihope no lower) can turn wiring as brittle as ice cicles and checking the wiring every fall to the coop and workshop was always something I did but I never got to it. As Alaskan and the northerners know, that is something you just can't do once the snow crusts over. I may need to bring in all my critter transport carriers from the workshop to make sure I have them ready to go in case something happens to the power to the outbuildings.
Why do I suddenly feel too old to be living here??? Thanks in advance for letting me vent.![]()
wouldnt they just use a snow drift?
