The Old Folks Home

(That solution beautifully highlights the simplicity of the metric system. Go Metric System!)
Gotta love metric. For Americans, temperature and distance can be a bit of an issue but I have a good understanding. I drove abroad a lot so distance is OK.
I also know that 37.5 C = 99.5 F and all the boiling point/freezing point thing.

Okay WHAT is a Pedigree bag?

It can be anything that will isolate chicks in the hatcher that allows you to know parentage. I have a bunch of shrimp mesh bags.

No, unless she has a cold.

Her calcium level is high though and has been high for several years. She had a test around 2007 for parathyroid hormone and it was high normal with high calcium. That is usually from a benign tumor on the parathyroid gland. The decision was to wait to see if it got worse. That Dr. moved on and I do not think the new one read the old notes.

My guess is she has bone loss too so the problem has been getting worse.

As I understand it, sodium ascorbate can cause alkaline stones, ascorbic acid can create acidic stones. So, adjust supplements accordingly.

The stones are likely because the pth hormone is scavenging the calcium from the bones. The high blood levels of calcium are removed by the kidneys and they become over loaded. Her blood calcium level has been just under 11 and normal is 8.5 to 10.2. Over 9 is a problem since calcium needs to be in a tight range.

We will see what comes of all this. I will make sure she is not taking ascorbic acid.

I am sure that I missed a few things since I skipped a few pages. While I was up in NY visiting I got a nasty cold/flu and powered through the rest of my visit but when I got home on Tuesday I went straight to bed. Yes Cynthia Tuesday the wind was howling here. We about saw an RV get blown over on our way home from the airport and did see a truck off the road with an attached trailer tipped on it's side. Today is the first day I have felt almost human so I will go to work tomorrow. I haven't been sick in years and it sucked that it happened while visiting.
