The Old Folks Home

You need to take the bridge from St. Petersburg to Bradenton Florida.

If that's the Sunshine Skyway, it doesn't look too bad - two lanes in both directions, a breakdown lane on the side nearest the rail, and a divider down the middle. This is the Bonner bridge in the Outer Banks. It is two lanes total - one in either direction. My husband and I wound up playing "chicken" with another driver on it a few years ago. He was driving spang down the middle of the bridge. Fortunately, he woke up and jerked over into his lane before he hit us; though Hubby had hit the brakes and the horn, there was no place for us to go to avoid a collision. It doesn't really show in this video, but the roadway is pretty much sand-colored. We were driving a "Sandlewood" colored Bronco II; we think maybe our vehicle just hadn't really registered on the guy's mind:

@Bunnylady

Wow thats some bridge..... I quite a job one time because I woke up on the other side of a much shorter bridge than that... I was going to work....

Interstate 8 splits several times because of terrain the furthest bridge is the west bound lane the closest bridge is the east bound lane.

I fell asleep in the west bound lane.

60 miles each way to and from work I crossed both bridges. an hour to get to work... work eight hours spend a couple hours with family and son then an hour drive back. I left home in the dark and came back in the dark.... Somewhere in there the horse got fed too.

Well hopefully we will not see those kids back again. DH went down and had a chat with the parents (I wasn't fit to go, trust me). I do believe the dad may have "explained" to them why what they did was wrong after he left. In fact when DH told the dad that he was going to electrify the pen the dad told DH to give them a spank if we ever caught them in the pen again. While that is tempting, I don't think I would really do that. I am hoping they got a "come to Jesus" session with dad and won't come back. I did get a chuckle out of one of their girls saying something about which boy had been breaking the eggs. Hmmmmm, that might explain the pink child sized glove in the pen from the other day. Hopefully she will see what her brother gets and won't be back either. The boys just said they were breaking the eggs to see the babies inside. I did explain to them that there weren't any babies because they just killed them by breaking the eggs. Yes I was brutally honest with them but maybe that will also help make an impression.

dsqard that is so nice that the father of the kids is going to stop all that for you! That is so great that some parents still care how their children act.

I am so glad that was you and not me. SUPER kudos to you DH for being able to handle the situation nicely. I would have been so tempted to be nasty... it is hard for me to keep my cool in a situation like that.. .. my anger gets the better of me.

I think that it is VERY good that you said what you did, that they killed the chicks..... stupid children......

I do love it when parents tell me that they give me permission to spank and correct their kids... some parents are SUPER sensitive and get angry if you look at their kids funny...

I haven't ever spanked someone elses kids.. but after they give me permission to do so, I feel more comfortable correcting their kids, and things work more smoothly.

You guys were showing of turkeys a few pages back. Here is one of our grand son's that got his first turkey. Turkey hunt is still on .. I think. They were sorry they didn't get the photo of him carrying it out. A hunter slings the turkey over his back while holding onto those big ol legs, with the shotgun in the other. They said that trukey's head was down to his calves. I bet! He's short for his age. He's so proud that he was bringing home food for the table.

Haven't been able to all day. Wonder who's knickers I got into a twist?
BYC is having problems. A lot of us have not been getting email notifications and some have not been able to post pictures.

I hope they get it all sorted out soon.

I would have been too

to visit the parents. I wouldn't spank anyone's kids - the parents would sue the cabooses off of you, if you did so. The kids to practice some self control - ALWAYS get permission to visit someone's property - look but, don't touch .
