The Old Folks Home

I thought it was just lower animals like arthropods but apparently it can happen in turkeys and chickens.

Like at traffic court this morning. They have one just for red light camera tickets. The judge told us that there are no points assessed and if one doesn't pay, they won't issue a warrant for your arrest. So why do you have to pay? If you don't show up, they just give you another court date. If you do show up and can't pay, they give you another court date.
Kicking the can down the road.

Very interesting that they are males..... What I have read about in Lizards is that they are essentially clones of the parent. Therefore female. Obviously the genes that define gender are different in Lizards and Turkeys...

Red light camera tickets are $100 everywhere.
There is a company that installs all the equipment at no cost to cities and counties. Then they get a share of every ticket's proceeds.
The bad thing is that, in some places, the same company also control the length of time of the yellow light, thus improving their bottom line.
If you are caught by an officer running a red light and get a ticket, you get points on your license. Not if you are caught on camera. That's so people don't fight it more. That should be illegal.
Some cities have banned them after resident outrage.
The Missouri Supreme Court is going to rule this summer on their constitutionality.
The city of St. Louis also has stop sign cameras and speed cameras.
I got a ticket once making a right on red, which is legal. However, state law says you must make a complete stop to do so. That means your wheels can't be turning. In the case of mine, I couldn't have been going over 1 mile an hour and an officer would never have issued a ticket but the camera did.
They have a website where you enter your ticket number and you can watch your video.

Redlight cameras were installed in San Diego and city by city they got banned. So No redlight cameras here.... But the boxes are still up LOL... I think the boxes are just as much a deterrent as anything.

Rolling stops are common here... I aggravate the heck out of people when i stop for Lights or signs... Or do the speed limit....

I been known to slow down just one mile per hour if I get a tailgater.... then pull over in a clear spot to let the BEHIND hole by....

On the freeway I go with the ambient speed. When it gets over 85 I move over to the slow lane and let em flooood on by. Here near town speed limit on the freeway is 65. But out of town it goes up to 70. The general rule of thumb is do not drive faster than is safe.... That means proper car length between you and the next car... I been pulled over for more than 80 twice now. But only a warning for each time. Both times I was the sole car on the road.

First time was about 2 in the morning and I was headed home. Coming down a hill noted for people drifting down too fast... I backed off for the light I knew was a head and came to a very controlled stop. when I pulled away the car behind me turned its blue and read lights on... I pulled over... I swear to Gawd he looked like Harpo Marx.. AFter the ID thing he asked me if I knew why he pulled me over.. I said I probably was going too fast?. "I had you dead to rights on the radar at 80 (45mph zone) But when I went to lock down the radar it fell off the dash." Then he wanted to know where I was going... I told him home which was just one more block awy and that I had some exciting news for mom. He chatted me up further asked me which High school I went to. Yep we were in the same school same year... He told me to be more careful and have a nice day....

That would have been a very very expensive ticket.

Tailgaters back off when you do what my father taught me. Just slowly and randomly go from yellow line to white line, they think your drunk and back way off, works every time for me but once. Had a car follow me from work all the way home one night. Slowed down so they could pass didn't work, tried the weaving trick, sped up, just stayed with me. For 16 miles. Couple miles before my road I said heck with this so I mashed it, up over 100mph. Stayed with me! Thought it was some punk kid, nope lights came on State Trooper! Oops! I told her I'm not accusing you of tailgating but you were uncomfortably close and I have to come to a almost complete stop over the next hill to go on my road, I was just trying to give myself some space I've almost been rearended there many times. She came back gave me a ticket for 72 in a 55 says " both me and you know you were going faster than that!" not very nicely either. And then " I understand what you meant by giving yourself some space, but keep in mind you never know who's behind you". Ohh and she mentioned she thought she was following a drunk Lol! I think the ticket cost $160 and no points.

That would make you lose your license here, plus maybe 20-30 days income.

That was back thirty years ago. Here its a speeding ticket x amount of dollars per mile per hour over the speed limit.... Yep probably a month or two pay... and x amount of marks on your ticket.

Those marks expire but if you accumulate more than is allowed you can lose your license for a period of time. AND for every mark on your license your insurance goes up.

Have only had one moving violation ticket that put a mark on my license. Right hand turn at a no right hand turn light..... after paying the ticket I was able to do Traffic school to get the mark removed.

I hear an European drivers license is like gold because of the stricter qualifications and requirements for keeping it. Once you get one you can even drive in the US with it...

Yep.... LOL... I would say weaving would get the attention of a cop.

I will stick to backing off and letting them go by. Oh and for what its worth when you do that you need to come to a complete stop to let them by... I pretend to dig in my purse. or back seat.
