The Old Folks Home

So I'm sitting here eating biscuits w/a little butter and strawberry preserves, along with some nice juicy bacon strips. I have a couple of salivating dogs at my side waiting semi-patiently for their share of the bacon. Mornin' all, hope everyone's day is off to a good start. I went back to bed around 6 and slept again till about 10. So I almost got my eight hours, just not all at once.

Edit to add I'm also sipping on a rather large mug of hot tea with my stolen honey and french vanilla creamer.

Sounds good!

Banana bread is baked and I am checking into the ingredients for the brownies.

Tom’s Brownies

pre heat oven to 350
2oz semi sweet chocolate bar
1/3 C baking cocoa
½ C plus 2tbl. Boiling water.
½ C plus 2 TBL. Vegetable oil
4 tbl melted butter
2 eggs plus 2 egg yolks
2 tsp vanilla
2 ½ C Sugar
1 ¾ C flour
1 tsp salt
6 oz chunked bitter chocolate

Shave semi‐sweet chocolate. Add cocoa powder to large bowl. Pour boiling water over cocoa and whisk.

Whisk after adding each: semi‐sweet chocolate, oil and butter, egg mixture, vanilla and sugar. Fold in flour and salt. Mix in bitter chocolate.

Pour into parchment or nonstick aluminum lined 9x13 inch pan. Bake 30 minutes until tooth pick comes out clean.

Cool for an hour and then cut and serve.

Don't feel bad, I'm quite the thread killer.

I'm a thread killer, today, too. I've already used a bobbin and a half.

It's nice that I'm not sick and my machine isn't either, this weekend.

My wife cleaned the barbecue pit and went to the grocery store. I guess that means we're having barbecue.

We're supposed to hit 30 F tonight or lower. Have to cover or bring in a lot of plants.

I'm also modifying and testing my automatic water system for freezing weather. It has to work for 9 housing units. If I do the due diligence this month, I may never have to carry water at -10F again.

It's a bit heartbreaking to have a freezer full of chicken and she buys grocery store chicken. I guess I'll have to start cooking more.

L. A good reason to get busy in the kitchen. Met up with a friend that has the two ducks in the freezer as all other familly members do t do duck. I suggested tacos to hide the meat for their first taste Fingers crossed.
