The Old Folks Home

I got a weird one from Craig's list once. Had brand new set of tires on there for weeks no bites, quit checking email. Never using home phone # again 50 calls in two hrs for free ducklings, if I knew there was that much interest I'd had put down $10 each Lol.
I almost emailed this person back apologizing for not getting back to them and giving them directions, then decided not to, the email was weird, never said anything about the tires, don't remember exactly but stuff like want to check 'it' out, it? It's tires, see if 'it' will still work for them?? So I deleted the email I almost sent. I think they just wanted to rob or rape me, IDK, Lol.

Ya you have to be careful about craigslist! It scares me to have to put an ad on there. I did put an ad on CL for one of my embroidery machines. We some guy called me telling me he would send me a certified check and have one of his employees pick up the machine and ship it to him.

But I remembered I had read NOT to accept certified checks for payment due to scams. So I told the guy no that he either had to pay me thru paypal or cash when it was picked up.

I put an old truck on C.L. and had my phone get overloaded with calls/texts that wanted to mail a check with a bit extra for my trouble, if I would ship them the truck.

Well folks I hope you don't mind me pulling up my rocking chair and resting a bit. Spring has sprung here ......I've already got the crops going and getting the bators (LGs and a Hovabator) ready for the spring hatch. Also getting four brooders and grow out cages ready. It's going to be a busy year here on this little farm.......yessiree, busy.

Hi JD!

Tomorrow we start another round of El Nino rain. Several feet of snow on the Sierras and 3 - 5 inches of rain in the Valley. Folsom Dam is releasing water for the first time since 2012!

Still, we have not recovered what we lost from 4 years of drought.

Yes there are many scams out there for free ad sites. I hear about them all the time from the people in my photography group. Many police stations are now setting up places in their parking lots for Craig's List (or whatever the name is) exchanges. I highly recommend that even if your local PD doesn't have a specific part of the parking lot for this, it is still the best place to do the sale. I would recommend alerting the PD that the exchange is going to happen just so they know and may keep an eye outside. With how things are kind of crazy these days, I don't think I would have someone come to my house to get something unless it is something I can't move on my own.

Sounds like a positive development though, Ron.

Scammers aren't as occurring of a phenomenon over here, I don't think I've ever spoken to a phone scammer. There are people who sell worthless stuff for small sums, but mostly people buy them out of pity I think. And there are some beggars out in the streets, especially in the Summer, but they're pretty low key mostly. Phishing e-mails are a thing though, and those dating scams where people meet online and the other one requests money to pay for a plane ticket or whatever, but those are mostly based abroad. I have received some text messages that were poor attempts at scamming, but those were so obvious that I can't believe anyone would fall for it.

Ok, I'm ready to call the egg swap a success. She's kept the chicks alive for three days now, and she's taking them out of the nest to look for food and what not. I haven't set up the chick sanctuary yet, as I'm waiting for the chicks to learn to eat and drink first, then I'll set it up to keep adults away from the baby feeders.

The other girls are mainly ignoring the chicks, they haven't been hostile towards them, but they haven't really shown any interest in any other way either. Töyhtis is a bit protective of the nest, Wilma had laid an egg in the middle of the coop because she didn't get to her favorite nest, of course the other nest can't be used for laying. And Eemeli is keeping a watchful eye over the chicks, as he always does, he's a really good boy.
