@Wisher1000

I can touch the floor still. Sitting on the floor is a dangerous proposition. the only way I can get up is to go on hands and knees straighten my leggs out and walk backwards with my hands. till my feet are flat on the floor one last shove gets my balance over my feet and I am up.

Standing on one foot with my leg up I cant do. Both ways. Walking heel toe and rollover the ball of the foot to let myself down a step.... cant do. The only way I can walk down a step is to stand on one foot and bend my knee and step back wards to let myself down a curb. I can only do this with my left knee. The reconstructed one.

Right now my balance is off so I cant do any of it well

Getting up and down out of a hard backed and armed chair is good. Couch is nearly impossible. Ours is any way. The furniture in this house is geared for someone who is five foot nothing. I am 5'7" so I have to over bend my knees to sit down. I can lean forward and rock onto myfeet to shift my weight up... but its arthritis painful to my knees. what I can do to get off the couch is a variation of getting off the floor. Lay down straighten out my legs and walk up with my hands.

I dont go into the living room often.

Walking even with my walker is limited to about 1500 steps. smooth ground no "downhill" slopes.

Yet even with my limitations I am good for unloading about six bales of hay....

with the help of rope and a place to sit in my walker and bracing for my feet.... Horse gives me a back rub while i do it too.

...I think there are a tad too many of us older folks that "have fallen and can't get up" but often for entirely different reasons...some self inflicted miseries...

When you start typing @username for byc, a list of names that match appears below where you are typing. When you see the name you want to send a notice too, click the name. It will turn blue if it has been selected correctly.

You cannot simply type in the @ and a name, you have to select the name from the list.

But whether than does anything is something you can choose - other than turning things on my screen blue, it does nothing with my settings.

It must be early, your post does not make much sense to me...

Are you talking about turning on or off the notification settings for your account?

Each member has to go into their settings and set things up the way they want them to be. If you turn of notifications, they you will not get the email saying that someone sent you a notification. Others have spam filters or black lists that will block BYC emails.

I though Tara was not able to send a notification. I She is not getting notifications then there is a tread for that. Nifty and his crew of techs will look at the logs to see it the emails are going through. Usually they can figure out why.

Took me awhile to figure out how they did it on laptop. I'm usually on my phone, mobile has a @ button. On laptop @name, no space, have to spell right or list doesn't show.

Typing the "@" (which of course I thought was all that was done plus the name--duh--quit simplifying life, eh) and being patient to WAIT long enough (nothing patient about old folks...unless we are meaning HOSPITAL-type patient) and sure enough, wait a sec and then a drop down list appears <kewl> and refines itself as you continue to type the name out whereupon one may click the correct handle and voila, called someone OUT! Well well...WONDDERFUL!

Not being SO SPECIAL is a great thing.
