The Old Folks Home

I have more eggs than I can possibly use. I used to sell them, but didn't like the "feast or famine" cycles or trying to time worming with molt but not too close. It just became too much trouble. THEN I would take extra eggs to work to give away. People were thrilled to get them as long as I was giving them away, but one day I sent out an email saying I had some for sale and not one person bought any. I don't bother anymore. We eat what we want and the dogs get the rest. This is my countertop this morning.

Oh wisher that's a shame. our local food shelf would purchase them from you. And not even bat a eye. In fact they would be so happy. Would cut you a check every Tuesday if you delivered. They don't mind the you have a off season is a farming community.

My customers completely understand the cycle. They would have hens if they could.
I moved broody hen this am. Took right to it. Six haven't hatched yet and they all look good yet. They are in incubator. Took them because the two chicks would have left the nest with no way back. Hen would have abandoned the rest of eggs.

Pen, excellent about the hen and chicks!

As to eggs, some states, and some food banks have insane laws (they only accept prepackaged store bought food).

My local food pantry is excellent. They take homegrown eggs, food and goodies.

Wow Wisher... I thought I had it bad having 4 flats sitting on the kitchen table... I sell (when anyone wants eggs) doz/$4, 18/$6, flat $8. My friend who was selling them to her coworkers has now moved to the east coast, so just a couple of neighbors buy them now. I was feeding only the broken/damaged eggs to the dogs. Now I guess they're going to be eating real well.

Yeah... It kills me, I saw a charity organization handing out chips and soda to homeless folks in Anchorage.... I asked, turns out that BY LAW, they may not make sandwiches and hand them out...it has to be prepackaged store bought single serving things.
